@hizzlemobizzle you bring up excuses but for people like you it is nothing but excuses. First it was all about flattening the curve. Then it was about not opening up too soon. Then when we opened up it was about wearing masks. Then it was lockdowns again. Then it was about take the vaccine. Now it about unvaccinated. Here is the reality, a vaccine was never guaranteed, but it is here. If you take it but all logic of it you are safe to where worse, if you become infected, you have mild symptoms and move on. So what are you afraid of? Why the mandates? Why the masks still?

@theaterpup3466 it hasn't been explained to me. According to many people, the vaccine works. The vaccine works in either preventing infection, or if infected you are safe. So by that logic you can place a vaccinated person in a room of many unvaccinated people who are all infected with covid and that vaccinated person will be fine. But somehow, that logic does not seem to fly.

Both sides are being stupid here. Take how now there is a push to mandate vaccines. If the vaccine is safe, why are the vaccinated afraid of the unvaccinated? This all started to flatten the curve, a vaccine was never guaranteed. Well, it is here. Let people make a choice and move on.

Ghost Yuki what violence? Most don't care if you are vaccinated. Just don't force it on us. And for those who can't get the vaccine, they are either kids who are not at risk, or those with immune system problems to begin with and make up a rare portion of our nation whom we never catered to this degree to begin with. The virus is going to mutate regardless.

Hospitals always run near capacity for many reasons. Many times they do overflow and temporary ICU beds have to be made. That has happened for years. It is a money thing where at times more ICU beds are needed and in other times they aren't.

@jacobschimp7939 you can still become infected after vaccination. And the virus can mutate in other nations. Along with that, natural immunity appears to work on the variants. Many were already immune from covid 19 from being infected with SARS 1. So natural immunity works as well.

@Emiliapocalypse the virus is going to mutate on matter what. It will mutate in animals. Also, when vaccinated people can still be infected. So at that point the vaccine preventing mutations is a poor argument. Along with that, natural immunity continues to show to be strong against mutations. People were immune from covid 19 after infections from SARS 1. There are studies showing natural immunity being strong against the Delta variant. And mutations are not always stronger. But again, vaccinated people are being infected so the virus is still going to mutate. You are fighting a winless battle bud.

@223Drone Ok, one more time. If someone has been infected with covid prior to the vaccine existing, why should they get vaccinated? They have natural immunity? "Your claim that "natural immunity" is better has no evidence to back it up" Except a recent study from Israel and many studies prior to that showing long term immunity where the vaccine wears off after a few months. So again, if someone has been infected with the virus prior to the vaccine existing, why should they get vaccinated? Your complete refusal to answer that very basic question shows you deny reality and want this "pandemic" to last forever.

@Ataraxia_Atom I feel people at risk should get vaccinated. But there also the issue of herd immunity along with the massive push to mandate the vaccine that draws red flags. Also, to get the full story on covid we should look at deaths and break them down by age group, risk of death, health issues, etc. The data is there.

She was 19, thus an adult. Also, this is a very rare issue. There have been less than 500 deaths with covid for those under the age of 18. More kids die in shootings. Nearly 30 schools starting in Fall 2020 were fully open with sports going on. Nothing major happened. Also, this girl was obese so you have to factor that in.

In a few short months 477 kids have died with the flu in the 2018-2019 flu season. It is the same in how many talk about hospitals being overran when that always happens. Hospitals always run near capacity, it is how they make money, In 2017 a hospital in CA had to put up temporary ICU tents as they were being overran. That is why during covid they were quick to put up temporary ICU rooms as they have done it in the past. This insanity needs to stop guys. You are freaking out over nothing.

@trappedinamerica7740 no, that time span of 2018-2019 was the flu season. Flu seasons usually start around October and end around May, so around 8 months. So what is wrong in what I said? In the 2018-2019 flu season, which is around 8 months, 477 kids died. In 19 months of covid around the same amount of kids died. People die all the time. Yes, there are means of changing it, but at some point we have to accept life. Shutting down all the schools may prevent some kids of catching covid an dying, but the damage of kids missing out on an education is far worse. Same with covid, the lockdowns have done more damage to our economy and many people's mental health.

@trappedinamerica7740 no, she is obese. Being obese places you in high risk of bad health all around. It is similar to being old. It comes down to this, an obese person catching covid has a greater risk of dying compared to someone who isn't obese. Same as someone who is in their 90s with a long list of health problems dying has a much greater chance of dying with covid compared to someone in their 20s who is relatively healthy. That is why not all covid deaths should be counted the same.

We never shut down then. We never mandated flu shots or masks. Pointing to rare events to change the norm is not a route we should take.

@freedomishavingachoice3020 are they rationing care? How many kids are being hospitalized? And our hospitals are always full, it is how they make money. They can open up temporary ICUs and have in the past. For example, in 2017 a hospital in CA had to put up temporary ICU tents during the flu season. It is why that during covid temporary ICU beds were created so quickly, hospitals do it all the time. It becomes a money management issue in that during certain times of the year you do not need as many ICU beds, so why have them? Also, natural immunity exists, ever thought people want that?

In fact, when it happened many schools remained open as shutting them down means the terrorists won. 9/11 actually brought us together as a nation. I also disagreed with the Patriot Act and going to war over it.

There are many studies on it and a recent one from Israel supports that it last longer than the vaccine. I have said that if one becomes vaccinated, and after that they become infected and developed long term, natural immunity, then we are in the clear. 3/4 of adults have at least one shot. They should be running around and if they get infected they have long term immunity and are safe for years. No boosters, not worries. But natural immunity exists. I have several papers on it.

@tx88scorpio10 to start, I don't smoke. Next, natural immunity is a thing. This vaccine still has a lot of doubt, so those with natural immunity should not be forced to take the vaccine. Also, there is the question on if vaccinated, and then infected, do you build up natural immunity that is long term? if the answer is yes then we are done with this. The vaccine appears to reduce symptoms, 3/4 of the nation has it. If vaccinated they become immune long term. And what misinformation is being spread? Fauci was asked about natural immunity and he just hopped around the question.

But many studies in Cell, Nature, BMJ, Science, etc. have shown natural, long term immunity for those who have been infected. So again, if you have been infected, why get vaccinated? Also, where in this comment am I suggesting people not get vaccinate? And where is your evidence natural immunity does not exist? Why do you want to make this "pandemic" last forever but not following science? Once again, you will not answer any of these questions.

It does not mean people should not get vaccinated. Those at risk without natural immunity should. But again, why should those who have been infected get vaccinated? It is a waste of a very valuable vaccine that other nations can use? Maybe you are against it because you want this "pandemic" to last forever. Why? Why do you want this mess to last forever? Vaccinated people who are immune is a complete waste of a valuable vaccine that can be used on someone in other nations that have low vaccination rates. @1369Stiles ok, so you are now saying that if vaccinated you are still not safe from the virus? That you can still become infected and hospitalized? Then what is the point of the vaccine? Also, not all vaccines work that way. Many prevent infection completely. So what I am getting at is that one on hand I am told the vaccine works. But on the other hand I am told it does not work as one can still become infected and hospitalized. Because of the vaccine reduces the chance of health issues and dying, I still do not see a problem. Also, what about natural immunity which is showing to be stronger for a longer period of time? If after vaccination you become infected, do you still develop long term immunity? Because if that is true if you are vaccinated you would want to become infected as you said you do not have health issues and won't die, but now you are in the clear for years. Maybe forever. Avoid those boosters. So still confused. If the vaccine prevents long term health issues and dying even after infected, what is the danger of being around unvaccinated people?

It is safe, but is it effective? Natural immunity appears to be better. Also, it is the principle that should we allow government to force medical procedures in us? We never had vaccine cards or have private businesses force a vaccine. That is the issue.

@theaterpup3466 in the video. And where is the evidence unvaccinated are overrunning hospitals? And if overrunning hospitals is your concern, ban smoking. Obesity rate in the US is around 30 to 40 percent, but they make up at least 60% of hospitalizations.

@1369Stiles someone's health varies. You say "unhealthy" when over 70% of those placed on ventilators were obese. Also, someone can be obese, but if they have been exposed to diseases for years their immune system builds up strength. I know a lot of farmers who are obese but not getting deadly sick from covid as their occupation in farming exposes them to multiple diseases. So it varies. And yes, genetics can play a role as well. Very few healthy people died with covid. Over 90% had comorbidities. Over 80% dying were 65 and older. Over 70% were obese.

@JanglesPrime999 size is an indicator of health though. The fact is that people who were obese were placed on ventilators at a high rate. It is a trend. The issue is that covid deaths are overstated as a whole and a reason why is because everyone dying with covid is considered a covid death when other factors are involved. For example, someone in their 90s with a long list of health problems dying with covid is not a covid death at that point. Ignoring the fact she is obese and that plays a role in the risk of covid death is why we are in the position we are in of the constant fear mongering. It makes covid appear to be more dangerous than it really is.

It is more of making a statement. We have been jerked around for months. This started out as flattening the curve, not wait for a vaccine that was not guaranteed. Well, the vaccine is here. If you are vaccinated what are you afraid of? Also, when the Biden team said at the beginning that if vaccinated you will still wear masks and socially distance, what is the point? I feel the vaccine is safe, but the whole situation has become very political. Also, at this point if you think a vaccine and mask is going to end this you are fooling yourself.

So people who were infected.......well......before.......the......vaccine......existed.....have.....no,.......reason.....to....take......the.....vaccine. Also, if after vaccinated you become infected and develop long term immunity after that, that should be a selling point. Say it point blank. You become vaccinated and you chances of death and hospitalizations is low. All the while you can still become infected and develop long term immunity and this thing is over. Fact is you ignore natural immunity as you want this to go on forever. Admit it. You want to keep masks mandates going and booster shots for years.

This is a rare issue. Also, she was not "healthy". She was obese. Pointing to one incident that is the extreme rarity does not progress us. Less than 500 kids have died with covid. More die in shootings. We never lock down for that. But keep the fear going.

Also, covid deaths with people here age is rare. While being 19 compare it to those under the age of 18. Covid deaths over these 19 months, less than 500. Deaths from the flu season of 2018-2019 were 477. So yes, young, healthy people are not at risk. And shutting down one school for a few days following a shooting is never shutting down in the big picture.

@Ataraxia_Atom it should play a factor in how dangerous covid really is. 40% of those who died were nursing home patients. 50% of new nursing home patients die in 6 months and their average life expectancy is a year. They are people at high risk of death to begin with.

And one thing I said was positive coming out of all this was this vaccine for at risk people. But the insanity really on both sides is way too much now, especially with how political this has become.

@hizzlemobizzle read the CDC article entitled "Body Mass Index and Risk for COVID-19–Related Hospitalization, Intensive Care Unit Admission, Invasive Mechanical Ventilation, and Death — United States, March–December 2020" They say " Risks for hospitalization, ICU admission, and death were lowest among patients with BMIs of 24.2 kg/m2, 25.9 kg/m2, and 23.7 kg/m2, respectively, and then increased sharply with higher BMIs. Risk for invasive mechanical ventilation increased over the full range of BMIs, from 15 kg/m2 to 60 kg/m2." So there is a sharp increase. No different than deaths related to age in a whole. Graph covid deaths as a function of age and graph death probability as a function of age. Both charts spike up sharply past the age of 65. So it isn't so much about hospitalizations but the severity of it as well.
