It is a legit point. She, at one point, wanted the child but then quickly changed her mind. She also needs permission from her guardian. Also, the ruling gives her time to think about it some more before making a final decision.
1
Giving the child up for adoption is not that bad. In reality the child, when they grow up, will understand. Instead of being killed they were given life and allowed to be raised in a stable situation. When the mother become stable they can become more active in that child's life.

Read the whole story. She is a minor and needs permission from her guardian. She, at one point, said she wanted the baby but then quickly changed her mind. And if you look at the ruling the ruling is giving her some time to come back to make a final decision. Mike is overreacting here.

@223Drone "The teen said her guardian was "fine" with the abortion, and the court said if that guardian "consents to the minor's termination of her pregnancy, all that is required is a written waiver from the guardian."" From CBS News article entitled "Florida court rules 16-year-old is not "mature" enough to get an abortion" ' She never received written permission.
1
@223Drone well, you better tell CBS news that is not true so they can correct their story.
1
@223Drone again, talk to CBS news bud.
1
@melgibson7313 kid, I did look at the facts and even cited an article. Meanwhile you gave..........
1
@223Drone I watched the video. What is your point?
1
There is more to it than that. She, at one point, wanted the child, but then quickly changed her mind. So it is clear she does not know what she wants. She needs permission from her guardian, and the ruling gives her time to come back a few weeks later.
1
@Emeritus75 she doesn't have parents, and her guardian never signed off of it.
1
The ruling is based on several points. One, she does not have written permission from her guardian. Next, she, at one point, wanted the child but then quickly changed her mind. She is confused. The ruling also gives her a few more weeks to fully decide.

@ladylaurus8493 not the story I read. From CBS News "The teen said her guardian was "fine" with the abortion, and the court said if that guardian "consents to the minor's termination of her pregnancy, all that is required is a written waiver from the guardian."" I have yet to read anything saying her guardian signed off of it. She waited 10 weeks before making the decision and a lot of it was based on her friend dying. I cannot see how. As for caring for the child there is adoption. She can have it placed for adoption, remain active in the child's life, and when she is stable enough she can start to care for it herself. This is common. The child is clearly over emotional and is not capable of making rational decisions. Not saying she should be denied an abortion. What I am saying she needs a lot of help. If you read the ruling it gives her the chance to come back in a few weeks with a final decision. And please stop using "forced birther". No one forced her to have sex. You sound very immature when you say such phrases.

Comment Auditor who is saying anything about being still born? You are going to the extreme here.
1
@223Drone "You clearly didn't watch the video because Mike points out that she did." When? Time stamp?
1
Comment Auditor how is my comment sadistic? We need standards in life. What evidence is there to suggest that the baby that girl is carrying has little to now chance of surviving in or out of the womb? You make it seem like I want all abortion to be illegal. I don't. However, without standards you get a situation where people are using abortion as a form of birth control and late term abortions. Many on the left have pushed abortion to make it all willy nilly without care and thought and even as going as far as celebrating abortions. Here is the reality. The girl is clearly emotionally unstable. She decided to get an abortion after her friend died, where causes are not listed. She said her guardian approves but cannot get written permission. She clearly does not understand her options such as adoption. And even at that she still has a few weeks to decide. She is 10 weeks along where FL law has it at 15 weeks. And even if Roe v Wade were still in place these laws will still exist.
1
Comment Auditor it is immature. No one is forcing anyone to give birth. She did not have to have sex. So there is that. So if someone makes the mistake of drinking and driving and ends up in jail do we call people who throw that in jail force imprisoners? She did an action and there are consequences. There are legal methods for her to get an abortion. It isn't like they are completely telling her no. But there is a point where you can't have one. There is a balance. Your talking point of "force birther" has it so people use abortion as a form of birth control and also get late term abortions. Abortions with no standard. The left went from rare, safe and legal, a stance I actually take, to having drive through abortion clinics.
1
Comment Auditor what about that video?
1
@ladylaurus8493 she did make her own health decision. She decided to have sex and that has consequences. Same with smoking, drinking and eating junk food.
1
Comment Auditor no one is forcing them to have sex to get pregnant. Also, many states allow abortion that people can go to.
1
@223Drone you are correct. We need to take all pregnant woman and force them to have abortions. We have too many people on earth right now. So we take all the pregnant woman in the US and force them to get abortions paid for by the government.
1
@ladylaurus8493 well, don't have sex and don't get pregnant. This is a lesson for her to learn.
1
@ladylaurus8493 there are several layers to this. As with a minor they will need written permission. You have that. Or if the pregnant girl's life is in danger.
1
@ladylaurus8493 "Trust me I know, I once told my story of many instances of abuse and positive pregnancy tests and he said he would've forced me to have the babies even though I would've died " If you are talking about me point to me any comment I have ever written where I have said that, ever. Do you even know my stance on abortion? I doubt it. Like most leftists you never listen, you just make things up.
1
@ladylaurus8493 so you say someone like me. Again, you don't even know my stance on abortion. I bet if you were to hear it you would be shocked. And is her life in danger? You say trauma. Part of the ruling is that, recently, she wanted the kid. But then quickly changed her mind. So she is uncertain. It appears that by getting an abortion her life will be traumatized as well. If she has an abortion she may become depress because of it as well. That is a part of this ruling. The ruling is giving her more time to think.
1
@ladylaurus8493 do why didn't the guardian do it? Really, if you read the story and the ruling the guardian gave no official statement, only the girl did. The guardian is nowhere to be seen. And if she can't care for it physically and mentally then there is adoption. That is always a choice. In fact, if she has the baby, gives it up for adoption, but remains active in the child's life while she becomes stable, the child may appreciate that. What facts don't I know? Point to me any source of the guardian directly saying they are OK with it. I see none. "You just want to force minor children to have babies" Again, you don't even know my stance on abortion. I follow a standard to start. But that does not mean I want to force a minor to have a child. "but what you're saying is you want a person who's more likely to die or be maimed from the pregnancy than an ADULT to have a baby." Never once said that.
1
@ladylaurus8493 she is not being forced to give birth. She can get a written permission from her guardian. And the ruling has it so she can come back in a few weeks to give her final decision, after she has given is some thought.
1
@223Drone "You opnely oppose abortion" ' Nope, never have. Point to me one comment where I did.
1
@223Drone be honest, why do you lie about me? Why do you keep repeating the same points over and over again the I have debunked over and over again?
1
@223Drone "Many studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of people who have a abortion feel relived afterwards." As usual, you do not cite a single one.
1
@nelsonth in my opinion, right now, no. One, she is a minor and should need consent from her parents or guardians. Or at the very least, they should know so they know she is sexually active and not being safe. Next, she is 10 weeks along, the law gives up to 15 weeks. Her life is not in danger and she is clearly not thinking well as she is not making this decision after her friend dies for reasons not reported. She should be given counseling to think about the decision. There should be a group similar to AA (minus the whole cult like religion) of people who received abortions to talk to. I say that because as an alcoholic I received the best advice from recovering alcoholics who went through detox and withdrawals and the cravings, not psychologists. Same can be said for abortion. Talk to people who had to make the decision so she knows what is really going on. She has a few weeks to do it. Based on everything she is making a knee jerk reaction. If you read the ruling they are giving her another chance to come back and make the decision. 10 weeks in she has a few weeks more to decide.
