Every nation has issues related to healthcare. A reason why it is so expensive in the US is because one, we offer the best quality, period. Next, many receive it and do not pay. I have a doctor's bill that was due in March. I still have not paid it because I am waiting for a check to come through so I have more money. The doctor's bill was for services I received in November. A few months later I received it. However, I have not paid, it is well over a month overdue and no word yet. So what happens is that healthcare providers raise cost to make up for the difference for those who do not pay. In the US we do have a "universal healthcare" like system. Legally, you have to receive care if you need it. You get the bill later and if you cannot pay that is that. There are legal methods to get around to not pay. The difference has to be made up somewhere.

@Isilranna that is mainly due to personal choice and also some genetics as well. On the latter part blacks have higher rate of heart disease due to genetic factors and out of other OECD nations we have the highest percentage of blacks. For personal choice we have a high obesity rate.
