Actually it is proving the right's point that we need laws to control more teachers. Really, a teacher acting like that should not be teaching.
4
Actually, this proves Desantis point. Teachers acting like this should be fire as they are a reason why the law exist.
3
@maxxidle "To get a students prefered pronouns there would have to be a discussion about gender identity." No there doesn't.
2
@Itsme-vo4fx where in the law does it ban the word gay? Also, if the student wants that then a discussion between the teacher and parents should be done. That is the point of the law.
2
@myst1741 yes, the teacher cannot explain. Simple. "If a kid under middle school age is asking to be called the opposite gender, there is a strong possibility the parents are aware of it" Sure, then confirm with the parents. Not that difficult. "They might not have the most conducive place to talk about it at home. I.E. highly religious parents. Afraid to get thrown out, beat, or sent to a conversion camp. (Because yes all of these STILL happen). But they feel safe enough to talk to a teacher or friends about it." Friends, sure. But not the teacher's business. "Answering the question of "Why do you refer to us as they/them" is much easier and comes at 0 risk to the teacher" No it doesn't. It opens up a bigger can of worms and the teachers need to be fired. They care more about virtue signaling as opposed to teaching kids.
2
@knavishknight "YOU also wrote: "No teacher should say if they are straight or gay" in thread started by Patrick Kenneally" Yeah, I agree. Why should they? If a student says they are gay that is allowed, and a teacher cannot discuss what that means. And a teacher should not say if they are gay or not as that is not their job and they should not being making such statements. Too personal. So do you feel teachers should be having personal conversations with kids?
2
@moniqueengleman873 being gay means you are sexually attractive to someone of the same sex.
2
@moniqueengleman873 "what if they have two Mom's or two Dad's? Then no one can explain it ?" No different if they have just one parent. Not every family is the same. Simply say a certain kid has two parents and they are both men or women. Just like some kids only have one parent.

The irony here is that I just watch the Royals play the Cleveland Guardians. The left have become so offended with team names in sports, like the Indians and Redskins, they act like this. You reap what you sow leftists.

These teachers doing this actually shows why the law is justified. Teachers freaking out over this law in a way showing they have no clue what is in it shows we need to control our teachers more.
1
Jay Hess acting like fools. The law prevents the instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation (both phrases are only listed twice in a 7 page law) but it does not prevent a teacher from calling a boy a boy. To me it appears these teachers would be the same ones having instruction with kids about sexual orientation and gender identity as opposed to teaching them math, writing, etc.
1
@harpoonmcfierce9697 uh, the prevents instruction of gender identities. You can call someone a boy without having a discussion on why he is a boy.
1
The law prevents the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity. It isn't about if you can call a boy a boy, or a teacher going by Mr. or Mrs. The fact these teachers are teaching kids is scary and shows why such a law was created to begin with. Parents want to stop teachers from abusing their kids.
1
@harpoonmcfierce9697 but not instruction, there is the point. The law prevents instruction of gender identity. It is no different than if a boy is called Joe. You call him Joe without having a discussion on why his name is Joe.
1
@harpoonmcfierce9697 have a discussion with the parent. Not with the student in the classroom. That is the point of the law.
1
@harpoonmcfierce9697 uh, so you feel parents should let kids do whatever they want? I am not a groomer here. How a parent raises their kids is, for the most part, on the parent. What parents want is to stop outsiders from raising their kids. How do I want kids to be easy targets when I am leaving it to the parents?
1
It is ignorant on legal terms as the law does not prevent teachers from calling a boy a boy or saying Mr. and Mrs.
1
@jackyogurl5735 "but she and he are clear gender pronouns that allud to sexual orientations which clearly violates the bills law" Not true. The law is written to stop discussion of gender identity.
1
@myst1741 they are not following the law to a T. In fact, their actions are why laws like this are being written. Teachers are abusing their positions. The laws prevents the discussion of gender identity. You can call a boy a boy and still follow the law.
1
@maxxidle no it isn't. Discussion would be asking why do they think they are a certain pronoun. Just referring to their pronoun is no different than referring to them by their name.
1
@maxxidle what is confusing about the law?
1
@maxxidle yes, instruction. Clearly defined. Teachers create lesson plans. You just can't create a lesson plan that involves such instructions. Read other laws regarding teaching standards, written in a similar fashion.
1
@maxxidle it says K-3.
1
@myst1741 it doesn't require a discussion. If a boy wants to be called a girl the teacher can talk to the parents about it and if the parents approve then the teacher calls the boy a girl. No classroom discussion, done.
1
@myst1741 you see how easy that was?
1
@Itsme-vo4fx identifying yes, discussion and instruction, no.
1
@Itsme-vo4fx "If the law is written to stop discussing gender identity, are you not discussing gender when “girl, boy, transgender” is mentioned in a conversation?" No.
1

1
@themandokero1410 the teacher will tell the other students to not worry about it. The teacher should talk to the parents to make them aware of the situation and see if the parents are OK with it. That is one of the points of the law, it allows parents to know what goes on in schools.
1
@myst1741 " Us in the LGBTQ+ have had to endure a lot of attacks" I doubt it. You are playing victim.
1
@blacknosugarnocream nope, have them follow a standard. They are paid by tax dollars.
1
@jefferyschic you clearly do not know how republicans think. They are for more local government.
1

1
These teachers do not educate for a living and they are the reason the law exist. Too many teachers abuse their positions.
1
Actually I am sure they did. A reason why laws like this are being created is because of teachers like this acting like fools.
1
@Jonathan Banner how is the law vague?
1
@Julez60 huh?
1
@schreibrocket it isn't a legislation flawed. The law prevents instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation. You can call a boy a boy without discussion. Just like you can call a student by their name. If a student wants to be called a boy you do it without discussion just like if their name if Timmy and you call them Timmy. These teachers clearly either one, do not understand the law or two, they support the idea of having discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation with kids. Besides, those two phrases are only written twice in a 7 page law. There is more to it than that.
1
@schreibrocket this shows why laws like these are being pushed. Our teachers are abusing their positions.
1
@schreibrocket no one said to eliminate it. It is to stop the discussion of it. The teachers are being fooled and need to be fired.
1
@jefferyschic nope. fools. They care more about virtue signaling as opposed to teaching kids.
1
@schreibrocket it stops the discussion, it does not eliminate teachers from referring to a boy as a boy.
1
@knavishknight it isn't. What is stopped is discussion on what being gay means.
1
@schreibrocket no, there is a time and place for it. With kids that is not the time and place.
1
@knavishknight The irony here is that I just watch the Royals play the Cleveland Guardians. The left have become so offended with team names in sports, like the Indians and Redskins, they act like this. You reap what you sow leftists.
1
@redrick8900 I watched the video, the law is not vague.
1
@jansmitowiczauthor78 what am I not understanding?
1
@redrick8900 how am I wrong?
1
@queensrule4450 that is not how the law is written. The law is written to stop the instruction of gender identities. Such as why is a boy a boy. I can call a cat a cat without having instructions on it. Same as I can call a boy a boy without having instructions on it. That is the point. Ever heard of site words? In K-3 they are taught. They are words kids learn on site such as "the", or "and", or "be", etc. They are seen and recognized. No instruction. Same will be with a kid and their gender identity. They are a boy. No instruction. Please, read the law, learn the law.
1
@SavagelyBadAtLosing "The entire point of teachers is to groom children for the outside world." No, that is not true. The point of teachers is to follow the curriculum to educate kids that the parents feel is fit for the kids.
1
@CPDheadstomp pretty much. The irony here is a reason why this law was created was because of insane teachers like those acting this way.
1
@petunialuna4801 so now you care about definition? And age appropriate and grade appropriate will be defined. This is how laws work out.
1
@moniqueengleman873 "omg teacher's have little heart to heart conversations with their students as needed. A bad day, an upset tummy, a dying parent, a child abuse victim." Your child abuse situation is a great example. Teachers report it to the authorities, they don't discuss it with the kids. So thanks for a great example in how a teacher does not have a discussion with kids but instead report to the proper authorities.
1
@moniqueengleman873 "The job of teachers is to "Teach" the kids to think critically." There are restrictions. So should a teacher be teaching intelligent design in a science classroom?
1
The irony here is that I just watch the Royals play the Cleveland Guardians. The left have become so offended with team names in sports, like the Indians and Redskins, they act like this. You reap what you sow leftists. We should remove all labels because they will offend someone. Great job leftists.
