@loug2414 no human rights are being violated. People here may say free speech but teachers have always been limited in what they can say in the classroom.

They believe what?
2
@kazikek2674 they are groomers. What is wrong with this law? We should not be discussing sexual issues with kids.
2
@j0j0dartiste21 " Do you believe that people are groomed into being gay by virtue of anybody even talking about it?" I don't believe that. Tell me this, how will you have a discussion about sexual orientation with a kid without bringing up ses?
2
How does it violate the Constitution?
2
Mike is completely wrong here. Th e law is intended to stop teachers from discussing sexual issues with kids. Being gay means being sexually attractive to the same sex, being straight means being sexually attractive to the opposite sex. Teachers should not be having that conversations with younger kids.
2
@terrystevens3998 how am I a liar?
2
@Amity_Amygdala first, it applies to hetero couples as well. With books aimed towards kids, very few, if ever, talk about relationships.
2
@Amity_Amygdala second, the bill is not vague, it is clear. But explain this, how will a teacher discuss LGBQIA matters to a kid? Or if a kid is wondering what it means to be gay, what will a teacher say?
2
The bill does not mention the word gay at all. You clearly have not read it groomer.

@ericv7720 who is Matt Gaetz?
1
@ericv7720 I really know little about him.
1
@ericv7720 and why did you think that? Also, who is to say I am a republican?
1
@WillCrigler I am one what?
1
@WillCrigler I am a moderate, not a republican.
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 how does this law make targeting easier for predators? And how does that TN bill legalize child marriage? Look into it, it does not. And inspecting children parts? That is not how the law is written. But hey, the left is calling this new law "don't say gay", so of course you will lie about other laws.

@afrikannus77 M H is not trolling. They have a legit point. There are conversations that teachers should not be having with kids, and it is especially bad if they do and do not inform the parents. How would you feel is a school was teaching creationism to your kid and did not tell you?
1
@knavishknight ok, where in the text? Also, it isn't as if schools are just telling students to drop their drawers. Before doing sports in school you need a physical, that is when it will happen.
1
@BeastGuardian wow, a lot to break down. On the first paragraph, you are dealing with abuse in general. A teacher is not going to teach students about sexual abuse as part of a lesson plan. But if a student comes to a teacher talking about abuse the teacher will go to the proper authorities to deal with it. That is how it is done.
1
@BeastGuardian on your second paragraph, you are making zero sense. Kids do not think like that, especially pre-teens. So your entire rant is irrelevant.
1
@BeastGuardian "I don't get why this is so hard to understand. People are born with a sexuality and a gender. Gender identity emerges earlier as it is independent from sexual and romantic attraction, and is a part of the instinctual neuro-hardware children use to learn by observing adults." Your sex and gender are the same. You are a boy or a girl. This whole gender identity thing kinds of needs to stop. And with kids, kids have little clue what they are talking about. We don't allow kids to vote, drive, drink, etc. for many reasons. "Trans and cisgender children alike are documented being able to reliably understand and report their gender generally between the ages of 2 and 5, thus gender is actually an appropriate topic for kindergarteners. " One, that is not true. Two, that is not between the kid and teacher but the kid and the parents.
1
@BeastGuardian "Gay, straight, bi, and pansexual kids generally discover their sexuality at the age when they can begin to develop romantic crushes, which usually occurs prior to puberty. This can cover a fairly wide age range. " This is also not true. Pre-teen kids understand little about love and sexuality. And if they have those feelings they are often confused. And again, that is on the parents, not the teachers.
1
@BeastGuardian "Anyway, that's my two-cents as a biologist," I doubt you are a biologist. Fact is we are talking about pre-teen kids here and teachers. Teachers should be limited in what they discuss as kids. Say a kid is very religious and wants to join a cult, do we allow teachers to discuss religion to students? Or what if a teacher is a part of a cult and wants to convert kids? We don't allow it. Same with sexuality and gender identity discussion with kids. It is not age appropriate nor is it the position of a teacher. It is on the parents, doctors and psychologists. Teachers are not experienced to handle situations nor should they.
1
@BeastGuardian and to add on the trans issue, or kids feeling like they are a different gender, if someone is anorexic we don't give them liposuction. Or a problem we have now, so many doctors are so quick to give kids medication for ADD or diagnose kids as autistic. Same with teachers. So again, I doubt you are a biologist, however, I met many people with advanced degrees who are not too bright in their field.
1
@Amity_Amygdala have you ever read education standard? They are written in a similar way. It will be up to the school districts to decide what is age appropriate and why. That is normal. For example, nowhere does it say in education standards that Romeo and Juliet should be taught freshman year, but it typically is.
1
@terrystevens3998 teaching about abuse is different.
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 it is about sexual attraction. It does not mean sexual relations and sexual intimacy. That is the issue. Tell me, what does it mean to be gay?
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 "But Republicans' tiny brains would pop if I tried to explain it to them." Please explain. It appears you can't.
1
@anthonydelfino6171 that is essentially a handful of books out of the many in schools. There are also books about Pete the Cat and his new shoes. But in the books you mentioned there are zero references of sexual activity, and that is the point.
1
@anthonydelfino6171 when those books talk about hetero relationships did they talk about them sexually?
1
@terrystevens3998 what?
1
@Amity_Amygdala the law applies to that.
