I am reading a lot about deregulation. What regulations would have stopped this?

@maudley what regular maintenance? At what cost? There has to be a balance. We can spend hours doing "regular maintenance" on everything, but at some point the cost becomes too high. Compare it to driving. We can eliminate all traffic accidents by capping speeds to 15 mph, but at what cost? The cost will be very low productivity. It is bad that this accident happens, but you have to realize that everything comes at a cost. It is easy to say more regulations, but at some point the regulations are causing more damage. As for understaffed and overworked, maybe if the left did not destroy the economy they will not be understaffed. Labor participation is still lower than it was before pre covid. Was a vaccine required to work for this company? My bet is that one point it was before the mandate was ruled unconstitutional. So how many retired early because of that? Also, Biden and his team is in charge. Why did they not create more regulations? What is Pete doing as transportation secretary?

A lot of regulations are pointless and actually lead to more problems. A small example off of the top of my head is oversight in workplace safety. In some places when there is an accident it needs to be reported. If someone has too many incidents they can lose their job. So many do not report incidents. Many go as far as bringing in their own band aids and painkillers to avoid using the ones offered by the company. That is because if you use the ones offered by the company you have to report it. So when you hear of a company have X amount of days without incident, chances are it is not true. So those workplace safety oversight makes the workplace less safe.
