One of the reasoning is because with Obamacare people can be on their parents' healthcare insurance until they are 26.

The age 26 is not arbitrary.

This is one of the dangers of the trans issue. Just like many doctors quickly medicate people with mental disorders, we are going to be seeing it with trans individuals.

@angie99656 uh, there is. You are a part of the problem people on the right are talking about when it comes to kids.
2
@patchwurk6652 not really. Don't like it, change Obamacare.

@TheRatsintheWalls based on what we see with other mental healthcare, the process cannot be too long.

@TheRatsintheWalls you do know doctors are human and are prone to, at least, error? And there are many bad doctors out there. I have seen them first hand. Many doctors overprescribe kids for mental issues as opposed to doing actual therapy. What makes you think it won't happen with trans kids? This is not to say all doctors are bad. There are many great doctors out there. My first psychiatrist was amazing. She was patient with me before placing me on medication, and in doing so she monitored me closely and even called me off the clock. But my next psychiatrist was terrible and just gave me medication left and right with no guidance.

@TheRatsintheWalls "If there were a psychological cure that would get the same results as transitioning, I'd have taken it in a second." For many there are.

@TheRatsintheWalls this is a novel idea. The UK recently halted gender affirming care on kids when more evidence came out on it. But here in the US we are doubling down. That is disturbing.

@patchwurk6652 you allowed government to inject itself in healthcare.

@patchwurk6652 no one is criminalizing their existence. The trans issue is complex. With Obamacare setting the age you stay on your parents' healthcare to 26 one has to think that maybe you cannot make complex healthcare decision until you are 26. That seems to be the standard the left set.

@berjanbeen7188 the issue is that if you can transition on your parents' plan then arguably you can as a kid. "The age for the plan is to ensure young adults have healthcare while finishing an education" It is a bad approach. We need to get rid of the employer based healthcare and have people buy their own plans. But that is a different topic in itself.

@timtebone1843 there are arguments there. And 21 is for drinking. The laws don't make sense across the board. Also, why is it that only men get drafted? Why don't women?
