I know you feel academic sources are bias, but a UCSF report from a few years ago said 50% of new nursing home patients die in a year and the average lifespan is a year. 40% of covid related deaths were nursing home patients. These are people of high risk of death to begin with.

Now before you say covid led to the increase, since 2008, according to UN stats, the death per capita in the US has been increasing. In fact, the annual percent change of death per capita from 2019 to 2020 dropped. Fact is that almost all who died with covid would have been dead in the same timeframe anyways based on many objective measures.
