The PPP loans were because the government shut down the economy. It was not the fault of the people but the fault of the government. That is different than somebody feeling that just by going through the motions in college means a higher paying job.

@223Drone it does. Government forcing businesses to shut down is not the same as students feeling that all the need is a degree in life to succeed. Also, forgiving the loans caused inflation. Same will happen with student loan forgiveness.
1
@223Drone why do you choose to be factually wrong on purpose?

It is a problem. Democrats are in trouble so they have to sacrifice the future for short term gains.

You actually could pay it off right away. I inquired about it and started to.

@garrettsmith4034 the fact is people felt that just getting a degree meant a guaranteed high paying job. Reality is that it is actual work. That is why so many who did not succeed after college want tuition free college. They want to take the challenge out of it.

There is a lot of truth to it. So many feel that all you need to do is go to college and get a degree to earn more money in life. The reality is college is an investment and is actual work. Sorry you, and others like you did not put in actual work and just went through the motions.

How does this loan forgiveness, which will lead to more inflation, help out Americans? Also, universities will just raise tuition even more.

@coolmoon4382 colleges will see that in the end government will just bail out the students. So they will raise tuition, the students will take out a high loan, and government will bail them out. You know where a similar situation happened? The housing crisis in 2007. Banks knew that they can give out high loans to people who can't afford it. And when the housing bubble burst the banks got bailed out. When government subsidizes something prices go up. What made colleges raise tuition to begin with was that since the 70s government has been subsidizing college. That is why college tuition since the 70s rose exponentially. In 1970 public 4 year college cost less than $400 a year. Now it is nearly $10,000. In the 70s government decided to start giving out loans for college. The Department of Education was also created that subsidized college education. Prices went up.

@melgibson7313 kid, have you looked at history. In 1970 the typical yearly cost of a 4 year college was less than $400. Now it is nearly $10,000. What happened in the 70s? The creation of the Department of Education that led to subsidizing college education. Also the government giving away student loans. Result? Higher tuition. This will lead to inflation as well. More money chasing after the same amount of goods and services means higher prices. Biden said that people can now look to buy a home or start a business. When more people are looking to buy the same home the price is going to go up. I know you are a kid, and economics is tough. But this will lead to inflation.
