It is on you to become educated. You don't need college to become educated. In fact, if you enter college thinking you are going to magically leave with an education then I suggest you skip it and save your money.

Yeah, and their degree is not worth that much.

Canceling student debt would be incredibly stupid. These stories are the extreme minority. Those who graduate college earn more. Canceling student debt would be canceling the debt of someone like me, a person with an advanced degree earning 6 figures in a state with a low cost of living.

@J.Soffer college is an investment you make as an adult. You bring up babies and toddlers. Compare K-12 education to college. In college you spend 1/3 less time in the classroom. The onus is on you to study, seek tutoring, do group studies, etc. College is an investment where you show employers you are willing to invest to achieve a long term goal. If you just want an education as an adult read books. If you make college free you eliminate the investment part of it. Also consider all the people who go into debt to start a business as opposed to going to college? Why not forgive them? They just invested in something else.

@Hunterchuck not a lie. Look at the stats. People who earn a college degree earn more. You are basically giving money away to people who do not need it. That will cause inflation and hurt the poor.

@erenyeager2964 you are sad bud.
1
@erenyeager2964 pretty good

@Hunterchuck government eliminating student debt will cause massive inflation. This is econ 101. And you don't have to believe me on my salary. Does not change it
1
@Hunterchuck here, if you eliminate student debt what will those people spend their money on?
1
@melgibson7313 so more money chasing after the same amount of other stuff. Kid, that means prices go up thus inflation
1
@erenyeager2964 who?
1
@melgibson7313 yes kid, it does. More money chasing out the same amount of goods and services means higher demand without higher supply. Thus, higher prices thus inflation. A simple supply and demand curve shows that. Econ 101.

@erenyeager2964 what little girl?

@Hunterchuck it is pumping more money into the economy while producing nothing. It is one way the Romans fell. They went from straight gold coins to creating more coins with a fraction of gold. It debased their currency. Same in what we are seeing now. Democrats pushing for pumping more money into the economy when productivity and worker participation rate is low. Thus we have record high inflation. We are literally seeing it now.

@Hunterchuck when does the government hand over billions to rich people? And if they do, do they one, hold it for themselves, and two, I would disagree with that. But start out with the first part, when does the government do it. " Most of our money in America gets put into the military that brings us no economic gain" Defense spending in the US is less than 4%. And as for no economic gains, the military does do a lot of research and help during disasters. "Another thing with the economy is that it's not very well regulated so any business can just raise prices even if they do not need to do so." And if a company does that they will lose business. If company A raises prices and company B, a competitor does not but sells a good/service of equal quality people will go to company B. " Almost every business these days are getting away with raising prices " Because we have an increase in demand and a shortage of supply. Econ 101. Gas prices are high because oil is expensive and we are not drilling like we should. And companies are not making record profits. How am I destroyed by you? Take military spending. You were completely wrong there. Less than 4% of GDP.

@Hunterchuck the onus is on you to give the examples and evidence. You make the claim you give the evidence. The covid relief bill was crap as covid was crap in general. A huge scam overall. How people can trust the democrats after covid is beyond me. I guess when you are brainwashed. There were many businesses who laid off workers because the unemployment benefits were actually better. There are stories of that. "Defense spending is $1,115 billion (15% of federal spending) " One, still not most. Next, I am concerned about the entire economy, so less than 4% of GDP. But if you want to just focus on the federal budget, SS, Medicare and Medicaid make up more spending. " The next biggest spender is the United Kingdom at $59 billion." Who has a GDP that is 1/10 of our GDP. No wonder they spend less. Healthcare is expensive in the US because we lack a free market system.

@erenyeager2964 what does this have to do with this conversation?
1
@melgibson7313 wow kid, what a well thought out, detailed rebuttal with examples. Makes me rethink my ideas. Way to go kid.
