It was my second time going to detox. Maybe at that point, with me not learning my lesson before, I am denied care. I since been sober, but I took up a bed during covid times pre vaccine.

  8.  @BordersOfInsanity  well, here is my solution. We stop making a big deal about covid and get back to normal. In fact, that such action will get many people vaccinated. Many people are like me, we are concerned about why the great push? At the very least it is bad marketing. If one was infected they now have long term immunity, so why should they rush to get the vaccine? You also have the spread of misinformation on all sides, which happens. But again, best route is to stop making a big deal about covid, say there is a vaccine if you want it. Doing so will increase vaccination rates. However, instead, us being jerked around creates confusion and suspicion and also brings up the doubt there is an end to this.

That reduces the number of heart attacks and strokes in general. Same with the vaccine, vaccinated people are still being hospitalized after infection. If the goal is to reduce hospitalizations, go farther.

So why should their access to healthcare be hindered by someone who is obese and/or smokes? That is my point. I agree many situations in health are unavoidable. So we should, as a society, work so unavoidable situations lead to access to care. That means banning obesity and smoking, both which increases the chance of hospitalizations. "Reports out there have proven that 99% of hospitalizations from Covid is the unvaccinated." What reports? And this is not a pandemic. Old people dying is not a pandemic. It is the norm.

Also, you say science is not political. Ok, it is known that after infection you develop long term immunity via T and B cells. So why the massive push to get those individuals vaccinated? We can tell them to hold off to improve global distribution of the vaccine. Many nations have less than a 10% vaccination rate. The fact that there is a push to get immune people vaccinated, and they refuse they are treated like second classed citizens, is a red flag.

Those who were infected again are the rare case and almost all had mild to no symptoms. And when I said rare case, less than 1%.

I do not have my chickenpox vaccine because I was infected with it. As for "return to normal", this was supposed to end months ago with "flatten the curve". It was not supposed to be "wait around until a vaccine and maybe get back to normal". If you think those institutions are willing to give up power, you are wrong.

Here there is a massive push to get people vaccinated, including those who are of no risk due to immunity after infection. Why? My point on being an alcoholic, I made the mistake multiple times. Even after my second detox I relapsed but could not afford care, so I detox at home which is dangerous. That really pushed me over. There were other factors as well, but almost dying played a role. There are ways. But now we are going down a more complex path. As in some people are alcoholics for mental and genetic reasons making it difficult to quit, many refuse to take the vaccine for legit reasons. A big one for me is why the great push when, again, many are immune after infection? And also, when does this covid hysteria end?

On my personal note, when I had to go to the ER for alcoholism, the EMTs said they were seeing more cases like me as opposed to covid due to substance abuse. Now add to the idea that many ended up with weaker immune systems due to increase in depression and stress leading to more severe covid cases. This is not a black and white issue. Just focusing on covid is not wise.

If he has to hospitalized because his obesity created heart problems for him, and thus a cancer patient is limited in care they receive, will he fell the same way? Next, this is an issue in healthcare that always occurs. The chances of surviving covid is over 99%. For some it is lower, but still higher than stage 4 breast cancer. With limited resources all around in healthcare, at times doctors and hospitals have to make difficult choices on who gets the most care. Now yes, us as a society should try our best to reduce hospitalizations all around, but it comes back to that means this guy, who is obese, needs to lose weight. And this should have been a goal prior to covid.
