To answer your first question the law would have done nothing to produce more baby formula, it would have just led to more spending by the FDA. Republicans created and voted on a law making it easier to get baby formula abroad.

@ethanvilla4418 no republican opposes spending, they oppose waste. As I said, the FDA giving money to moms to buy baby formula will create more baby formula. It just means more money going after the same amount of supply. That will lead to an increase cost in baby formula. "But say nothing about De Santis spending millions for cruel political stunts? @nsbd90now it was way beyond wearing a mask. A vaccine was forced on us where Mike supported the mandate. You had the lockdowns and schools being shut down that Mike supported. People's lives were stripped from them causing more damage. Substance abuse was up, kids fell behind in education. But you had people like Mike saying "shut up and just follow the covid restrictions". Me, personally, had my life stripped from me and it resulted in my drinking heavily where I almost died.. My attitude was that I rather enjoy life and if I die from covid, at least I was enjoying life as opposed to me miserable. But people like Mike could not leave me alone.

@nsbd90now as I said, the covid restrictions caused more damage. It was because people like Mike told others to shut up and obey the restrictions regardless of the damage being done. People like you and Mike did not care what others thought and had to force you way on them. That is the whole point in leaving people alone. If you were scared of the virus you hide. Others rather live life and if they die from covid at least they died enjoying life. Many nursing home patients said they rather die from covid as opposed to being alone. So how is my statement dumb? In this case people on the left could not leave others alone.

@nsbd90now the covid restrictions did nothing, there was a recent study on that. And there have been studies that the restrictions caused more damage. Also, many of the restrictions made no sense, so I can't go to a gym but you can gather in a walmart? Or how liquor stores were considered essential? No sense.

@nsbd90now the US is also the best nation when it comes to treated advanced illnesses. Universal healthcare is fine for very basic illnesses, but is terrible when it comes to advance illnesses. We do have economic safety in times of crisis "Republicans are why the covid crises dragged on and on, and the children weren't in school. That is because Republicans flat-out refuse to practice simple infection-control behaviors" It were republicans that opened schools. And the lockdowns did not stop the spread.

@mickeydecurious the difference between a hurricane and covid was that many on the left just listened to the government without question. Even come May of 2020 when it was clear covid was not that dangerous, they supported the lockdowns and the restrictions without questioning or considering the damage it was doing. Just obey the government without question.

@mickeydecurious the covid restrictions led to death. We had excess deaths for those in their 20s, 30s and 40s when the covid death rate for those individuals were low. A University of Chicago paper mentioned that deaths for those ages 18-64 rose by 26% where for those 65 and older rose by 18%. Also, compare this, over 70% of "covid deaths' are 65 and older. In 2019 those 65 and older made up over 70% of total deaths. So it wasn't an inconvenience, the covid restrictions led to younger people's deaths when those who were older were at high risk of death to begin with.

@mickeydecurious the causes for the excess deaths by the young was due to alcohol and drug use. You know, when you tell people to stay home and not doing anything, they will drink, do drugs and get fat. So no, it wasn't about it being an inconvenience, it was about how covid restrictions caused more damage. .

According to the report there were more excess deaths from the covid restrictions as compared to covid. Also, even if the covid restrictions saved lives, it harmed others leading to others dying. Point being, the Chicago study suggests that excess deaths were from non-covid related cases. That people were dying from getting fat, doing drugs and drinking.

@mickeydecurious to add, on that study, the point is that ages 18-64 makes up less than 1/4 of covid deaths but saw a higher increase in excess deaths compared to the elderly where the elderly were at greater risk. So how were those young people dying if it wasn't from covid?
