@martman1466 , reading just the first part I see no details. Bernie says
"A smart grid means a resilient, secure, and intelligent electric grid system that is capable of managing high amounts of renewable energy, charging electric vehicles quickly, and maximizing efficiency. We will spend $526 billion on a modern, high-volt, underground, renewable, direct current, smart, electric transmission and distribution grid will ensure our transition to 100 percent sustainable energy is safe and smooth."
One, where did he get that dollar amount? Next, rural areas will be extremely difficult to install this grid if not impossible. That is especially true in the plains where flooding occurs or in places of earthquakes. And in rural areas people are so spread out that you can't give them high amounts of electricity. That is why many still use gas. It is easier to ship and store.
In the rest of his GND plan he throws out numbers without explaining how he came up with them. He also assumes people are going to just follow the rules. On the car issue I am not going to trade in my gas powered car, which I just bought, for an electric one. I like it, I just bought it, it is a six speed and I enjoy driving a clutch, etc. I also have a car payment on it so how will that effect my trade in?
In all, I see no details in his actual plan. He just says "spend money" and that's it.
