@hizzlemobizzle what is a militia? Well regulated meant well prepared at that time. And the militia were the people.

@samon2111 one, there is a process to change the Constitution. Next, assault rifles exist. Banning them from citizens just means criminals will possess them leading to more crime.
2
The idea of allowing citizens to own guns is to one, allow them to take on the government if needed and two, protection and not having to rely on the government for protection.
2
Schools are typically gun free zones and easy targets. So action like that is needed.

It is a felony in the US. So what is your point?
1
@alexanderhood8993 ok, sure. And a militia can be developed on the fly as well. Well regulated meant well prepared in that time. In case you forgot but a bunch of farmers help beat the British in that time.
1
@hizzlemobizzle yes, civilians. That is what makes up a militia.

@BardaLiefson from professor Jack Rakove from the very conservative, right leaning university of Stanford "Well-regulated in the 18th century tended to be something like well-organized, well-armed, well-disciplined," says Rakove. "It didn't mean 'regulation' in the sense that we use it now, in that it's not about the regulatory state. There's been nuance there. It means the militia was in an effective shape to fight."

@223Drone ever heard of the Puckel Gun?
1
@MrMarket1987 not true. Jefferson said he supported the people owning canons and warships. We need standards when it comes to rights in our nation. When you start to blur those standards you lose those rights. Why is there a great push to ban the AR 15 even though most gun deaths are by hand guns? Because the AR 15 is scary looking and if you can get that one banned you now have a legal pathway to ban all guns. It is a trick law makers do.
1
@223Drone ok, and in the 18th century the internet did not exist. What is your point? As long as the government and criminals have access to those guns, I want law abiding citizens to have access as well.
1
@BardaLiefson yes, rules as in laws. There are laws against murder. What is your point?
1
@MrMarket1987 how are we not pushing for firearm responsibility? What more do you want? This guy bought his gun legally with a background check. Fact is he was mentally unstable to act this way. What do you want to do at this point? There is a way to change the Constitution, including overriding amendments. I suggest you read up on it. And as for national issues, we don't remove standards because our feelings are hurt.

This recent shooting is a big deal because they are so rare. They are not common.

@grmpEqweer if anything, the larger the magazine the more likely they are to jam. When the movie theater was shot up years ago the 100 round drum that person had jammed which saved lives.
