If divisive teachers were not an issue there would be no need for people acting like this. People who are threatened, along with having no counter arguments, act like that.

Youngkin won a state against an incumbent where Biden won that state by a good margin. Ever thought it is a sign that democrats are in trouble?

Educators are human as well and thus can be bias an corrupt as well. Do you think every educator is good and without flaws? It is the same, recently, with covid where many are saying "listen to the scientists and experts". Well, scientists did what in WWII? You had those in Japan and Germany doing human experiments, and in the US when the divide of the atom was discovered instead of powering the world a weapon was built that can destroy it.

How is this Orwellian?

@inferior-penguin8661 these are public school teachers being paid for by tax dollars. This is nothing like 1984. Parents who pay taxes and send their kids to those schools should have a say what is being taught and they should know. You talk about teaching kids that America is disgusting will make a lot of parents mad. Disgusting how? Yes, there are flaws, but that is with every nation's past and present.
1
@inferior-penguin8661 no nation guarantees healthcare to their citizens. No nation guarantees leave for child birth. I agree we should provide for our soldiers, how about we stop providing for those who refuse to work?
1
@inferior-penguin8661 " Right now we are sanctioning Afghanistan and women and children are starving to death" Then the government of Afghanistan should find a way to change that. "33% of the covid deaths could have been prevented," Nothing suggests that is so. "The federal minimum wage isn't enough to eat and have housing." Good thing essentially all min. wage workers are not in that position as almost all are part time workers living in a household with a higher earner.
1
@inferior-penguin8661 "When the nation needed to stay home the government told us to do so and then said "figure out how to pay your bills your damn self"." We should have never locked down to begin with. "We are also paying cops out of tax dollars and we can't even get them to stop murdering unarmed civilians. " We do. Almost all cases where it happens it was justified. "For some reason people think that CRT is being taught in public schools, but it's not. They want teachers to say there were two sides to the Nazis. You can't both sides the Holocaust, it was bad and that's how it should be taught. Slavery was bad and we still haven't even repaid those who were held in chains, we actually paid the slave owners for "losing their property". I am unsure why parents have a problem with teachers actually teaching the past of our nation truthfully, but if they do have a problem they can home school their spawn" CRT is being taught in schools. A big reason why it is an issue now is many parents were able to see what is actually being taught in schools from virtual learning and were shocked by it. The situation with the Nazis is complex. Many were good people but were just following orders of authority. Ever heard of the Milgram experiment? We see it here with covid now where many have turned on each other over masks. With the nazis Germany was in a bad place economically and the people were desperate and thus followed a leader. Who do you want to pay for slavery? It was around 160 years ago. "Teachers already need to buy their own supplies and are paid terrible. " Depends on the local school districts. "My water is poison and my roads give me flat tires. " Well, talk at your next city council meeting. "My nephew wasn't even taught cursive in school," That is most schools. Cursive was a way to write faster as you take the pencil/pen off the paper less. Thus, in handwriting a long paper it makes it faster. With computers everything is typed so there is no need to learn cursive.

@nuanil if there are no divisive teachers people would not have to send messages like that. People sending messages like that is trying to bury, and essentially censor those presenting an actual concern about divisive teachers. It is similar to someone storming the stage to yell louder than someone giving a speech. A rational person will give counter arguments knowing their arguments are stronger.
1
@nuanil a teacher that is bias, especially politically. Or a teacher that pushes propaganda. Your example on the civil war is an example. The civil war was about state rights. It was not largely due to slavery. The concept of state rights and a limited federal government was still strong in that time. For example, after the war the federal government passed a "temporary" federal income tax to pay for it but the SC shot it down as unconstitutional.
1
@benzell4 if the person being snitched on is not divisive they should be able to show that. Also, I would not call it a snitch line but a way to create transparency in their public education system. As for screwing people over, many government officials do that daily. Where I live I do not know of any teachers. While not in the public school system I felt that the university where I received my PhD from was very divisive in their administration.
1
@knavishknight it was about state rights.
1
@nuanil state rights to run their economy. Compare it to today. Same the federal government were to ban gambling. How would the state of NV feel? Same in the OSHA vaccine mandate in many states opposed it saying OSHA and the federal government should not have that power to tell employers to fire employees who are not vaccinated or fine employers. Right or wrong slavery was a big part of the economy for the south at that time. Easy for the federal government to say "ban it" without justification via the Constitution.
1
@nuanil also, how in what I am saying makes me racist? I support standards and restrictions being placed on all government, especially the federal one.
1
@nuanil how am I making a racist argument? Do you support free speech? I do. That means I support someone having the freedom to say something racist. I will disagree with their statement, but I will support their freedom to say racist things. Does that make me a racist? No as I am support the freedom of speech and not what is being said. I support state rights over some centralized force have no limits to decide what is right and wrong. Who is supporting whitewashing history? It needs to be taught with proper context and not one sided.
1
@nuanil I ask you you this, do you support the right for someone to say something racist? And if so, why? And if not, why not? And if not, who decides what statements are racists and what aren't?
1
So he wants VA to be successful?
1
@moviemaestro800 interesting, will have to look into that.
1
@icysisdee9547 who is being racist? Youngkin's Lt. Governor is a black woman.
1
@icysisdee9547 so how is he racist?
1
@icysisdee9547 college is different than K-12. College is mainly funded by the individual looking to accomplish a long term goal. They choose what classes to take and go from there. Also, plenty of black individuals have concerns about CRT being taught in schools. How did Youngkin run on racism? Telling me to "google it" is you punting at that point. Google what? Fox New? Daily Wire?
1
@icysisdee9547 if CRT is not being taught why are so many parents concerned about it? And again, google what? Fox News? Daily Wire?
1
@icysisdee9547 who is the racist side? Biden is saying we need a black woman to be a SC justice and democrats are praising him for that. How is that not racist and sexist?
1
@knavishknight where am I wrong? Again, after the Civil War a temporary income tax was passed by the federal government to pay for it. The SC shot it down as it violated the constitution where state rights are established in the constitution. In fact, that same situation applies today. Many states fought against the OSHA vaccine mandates on employers. One reason was because it would harm many businesses and individuals either as fines or as employees losing jobs. That harms local economies. Right or wrong but slavery was a part of the south's economy. The federal government simply saying "ban it" with no Constitutional authority to do so is federal overreach.
1
@knavishknight but leave it to leftists to ignore complex issues and just make something black and white.
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 what? Who said I am pro war? Uh, I have a PhD in physical chemistry and an MBA and I live in one of the largest cities in the US.
1
@vic5015 yes. The 16th amendment did that decades later. There is a standard that was followed. What is your point?
1
@vic5015 at the time of the sc ruling the 16th amendment did not exist. Please learn history
1
@vic5015 and there is a process to create amendments
1
@keirfarnum6811 "That’s the dumbest argument I’ve heard all week. Scientists under horrible political regimes once did bad things so we should never, ever believe any scientists again?!" Never said that. So many during covid say "follow the science" or "listen to the experts" when many experts have been wrong. And in follow the science they cherry pick it. What I am saying is we can't just blindly follow the experts where many have.
1
@keirfarnum6811 there are times slavery is arguably worth it. In the US one is a form of punishment for criminals. That means criminals pay off their debt to society.
1
@DarkRockslizer the methods prior to the Civil War to end slavery was federal overreach. The Constitution places limits on all governments, especially the federal government. There are methods to change it.
