@Nightscream452 you are correct. I have yet to see someone here explain this to me. But if a teacher were to say something as in "I am gay", how does a teacher explain that to a kid without talking about sexual attraction? A teacher can say they have a spouse, but they should not be saying "well, I, as a man, married a man because I am gay". Because if you do that then the student asks "what does it mean to be gay", and now you are on a bad path.

@223Drone "Except there is nothing inappropriate about teachers simply saying that they're LGBT " OK, I am student, you are teacher. "You are gay, what does that mean?" Ok, now answer.

@kurisu7885 " Hearing a teacher say they have a same gender partner isn't the same as said teacher going into detail about their bedroom activities." Here is the issue. A teacher says they have a same sex partner, or it is revealed to be that way and when asked why they say they are gay or a lesbian, how do you describe that to a kid? How do you describe what being gay means without the discussion of sexual orientation?

@kurisu7885 "The same way you'd describe it as if it's a straight couple, as in some boys like boys and some girls like girls." Like as in how? In what ways? So you have a 2nd grade boy who has friends who are boys, so now they feel they are gay. Now you have a boy with complete misinformation on what being gay actually means. Don't you see the problem now?

@kurisu7885 to add, a teachers says "being gay means you, as a boy like other boys". So a boy with other friends how have boys goes home and says to their parents "I am gay because I like boys". So now you have parents trying to do the task of telling them the truth. I have friends who are men, does that make me gay?

@kurisu7885 what does it mean to be gay? I will tell you. It means that you, as a man, is sexually attractive to other men. It isn't about a boy liking boys. It is about sexual attraction. That is where the issue lies. You can't talk about someone being gay, straight, lesbian, etc. without talking about sexual attraction.

@kurisu7885 how else will you do it? You started out with this "The same way you'd describe it as if it's a straight couple, as in some boys like boys and some girls like girls." ' Which now brings the elephant in the room. So a boy, in 2nd grade, has other boys as friends he likes, now he thinks he is gay. That is misinformation. You see the problem? Is being gay simply meaning a boy likes other boys?

The issue is when you start explaining what being gay, straight, etc. means without talking about sexual attraction.
