@Angelo Balbi "Abortion is a medical—personal—issue, not the state or anyone’s responsibility." State has the ability to restrict such issues. Many feel abortion is murder and for great reason. Same with assisted suicide which is why no one has a right to assisted suicide. "Murder affects other people, so that’s a judicial issue." And arguably abortion is as well. "Education is a mixed market (regulated by the government but privately owned) issue" And done at the local level because it is not listed in the constitution.

Good thing no one is doing that. Revoking Roe is leaving it to the states. Many feel abortion is murder. And many women feel that way. I know it is hard for you to believe that but that is so.

Religion is not the problem. Many people are not religious and still cause damage to society. Religion does a lot of good for society. BTW, I am not religious, I am just not myopic and see it has a place in society.

@luisvelez5695 N Korea is an example of people not being given freedom and choice. In the US people have a choice. Some choose religion. I see many on the left who are not religious and are very awful and oppressive people. Think Ana who went on a rant that she is better than you and that when I oppose her ideas that I am voting against my own interest, and I should just listen to her without question. It goes beyond religion. In fact, religion is hardly a factor here.

Even when the science was clear that the virus was not that dangerous and we needed to get back to normal, the left kept pushing their covid measures while not following them. @TayTayMakesBeats how does religion do more harm than good? Look at the left and the many people who are not religion and do harm. In fact, i feel the political left is a religion. Look at how much they obey and defend their precious leaders, especially during covid. During covid when the leaders on the left told others to lockdown and freak out followers on the left obeyed without question. Look at the damage done there. There are reports coming out that the lockdowns and covid restrictions caused more damage. Or when the left calls their opponents racists, sexists, etc., the followers on the left agree without question, without talking to their opponents. They just say "republicans are racist" simply because the leaders on the left say so. Or how under Biden and the current leadership under the democrats people on the left just defend them saying "But Trump" or "Jan 6th", two irrelevant topics at this point. I see a lot of harm there. And I see it from the left without them using religion, unless you do what I do, say the left has become a religion themselves.

@FanofMillan and what religion did he practice? Besides, in all cases I refrain from the Hitler comparison because, in the end, he did very awful things. If you really think religion was his motivating factor in what he did you clearly know little to nothing about Hitler. And this is not me avoiding an issue, it is me saying that we really can't go down the route of comparing something to a man who led a genocide.

@TayTayMakesBeats 1. Very few, if any people these days are homophobic, transphobic, racist, etc. And in the past that was not all driven on religion. A lot of it was based on the fear of something different. For example. Say a new species from space came to earth and they wanted to start to live in your neighborhood, date your son/daughter, started taking over many jobs in your neighborhood and you A: Knew little about them and B: The just started to take over with what to seem to be little to no standards. How will you feel? I bet the same way people felt about issues of gays, race, etc. I am not saying religion is perfect. In fact, the imperfections are why I am not religious myself. What I am saying is that people naturally are scared of different things. That is common in the animal kingdom. Also, people tend to group with their own kind. Even politically we see that. Tell me, how many conservatives do you hang out with on a daily basis on your free time? I bet very little. In fact, there is evidence that we are becoming more segregated as a nation politically as is. It is natural. "I'm talking about the majority of people who make their Christianity a crucial part of their lives and identities as while not always bad they're extremely vulnerable to the kind of religious propaganda that lead to the things I mentioned above. " I find that not to be true. How many religious people do you hang around? Almost all I know these days are not racists, homophobic, transphobic, etc. This is actually a big problem with the left. They make these claims that "far right extremists" are those things when there are essentially no far right extremists. And almost all on the right are none of those things. In fact, it is the left that I see are the ones making a big deal if someone is gay, trans, black, etc. For example, Trump picks Richard Grennell to be the US Ambassador to Germany, who is gay. Does he or anyone on the right make a big deal about it? No. But when Biden picks Dick Levine to his position or Karine Jean-Pierre to her position, they make a big deal that they are trans or that they are a black, immigrant bi woman. Why? Tell me, which group is the one making a big deal about sexuality, race, etc.? I do not see it from the religious right. You say "There are tons of religious liberals and leftists but they don't use their religion as an argument, that's the major difference." No, instead they use the fact that they are gay, or a woman, or black, etc. Not their character, but instead of their skin color or sexuality. I do not agree with people using religion as a talking point in politics. In fact, many on the right became annoyed with the 2012 republican primaries in how so many were bringing up god. But it is equally as bad to bring up the fact that one is black, or gay, or trans, or an immigrant, etc. We should judge on character. Also, in 2016 Trump did not run on religion like republicans were in 2012 and look where that got him, the republican nominee by a landslide. "They argue with facts. " I disagree with that as well. Many times the left will use the fact that someone is gay, or a woman, or black to protect them. For example, on the George Floyd case, immediately people on the left labeled Chauvin as guilty. When people on the right came out saying that we need to wait for an investigation to come out, wait for the facts and evidence before we draw a conclusion, people on the left called those on the right racists. Instead of waiting for the fact they went straight to race. To the left it is facts be damn, you are simply a racist, homophobic, etc. " I just know there's a very big connection between religious fundamentalism and right wing ideology" Maybe in the past, but not these days. Republicans supported Trump, a many who supports gay marriage, a man who is divorced twice and cheated on his wife with a porn star. Do those sound like religious values? The whole "right wing terrorism is worse than left wing terrorism" is factually incorrect. Meanwhile, the left cannot condemn the violence from the left such as months of rioting in 2020 in the name of BLM because doing so would be racist. 2. Leftism has become a religion. "leftists and liberals are very different and I don't see how agreeing with isolation for the pandemic makes a group a religion." Because after a month it was clear that covid was not that deadly and that the lockdowns were doing more harm. The left refused to even consider the damage being done to kids not going to school, especially at risk kids with special needs or those in poverty. The left was not considering the damage being done to the economy and how that is harming people in not being able to eat in general, not just in healthy food but in general. People on the left did not want to discuss the increase in substance and domestic abuse. To them it was just "listen to the science" which meant listen to Lord Fauci and the government in the CDC. No questions asked. Heck, many states opened up a lot come summer of 2020 and many blue states were still highly restricted but yet there were no differences in death rates. And when anyone tried to have a discussion with those on the left about it all the left yelled was "follow the science". Well, what science? What about psychology and the damage done to kids and adults being told to just obey? Sure, at the beginning the lockdowns made some sense, but come May of 2020 all restrictions should have been dropped. But the left just blindly followed Lord Fauci and the CDC along with democrat leaders without question. As for saying Trump won. To me the election was suspect and there should have at least been an investigation. There wasn't. After years of talks of Russia and an investigation the left just said "Biden won" without question. "Who still has people disagreeing with literally 99% of scientists on climate change?" Ready Mike Hulme's Book "Why We Disagree About Climate Change". Read the Popular Technology article entitled "1350+ Peer-Reviewed Papers Supporting Skeptic Arguments Against ACC/AGW Alarmism". "Who acts like sex and gender are the same thing despite scientific consensus disproving that ages ago? " They are they same. "Who is trying to make abortion illegal despite criminalizing abortion being shown not to reduce abortions at all but to increase deaths and injury because of illegal back alley abortions? " Actually, despite abortion being legal for years abortion rates have been dropping. "Who keeps trying to ban sex ed for kids despite studies showing that comprehensive sex ed at a young age reduces cases of child molestation and teen pregnancy?" No one.

@TayTayMakesBeats I wrote a very long comment and only got to point 2. When you started talking about climate change you actually proved my point on how the left is a religion. The whole 99% scientist talking point is incorrect. I cited a book by Mike Hulme and many papers to counter that. Also, it is also why the left cannot get scientists to speak on their actual behalf but instead get an ex bartender and a teenage girl. Myles Allen said it best "I was invited to speak to a group of teenagers on climate strike in Oxford recently. Like many scientists, I support the strikes, but also find them disturbing. Which I’m sure is the idea. Today’s teenagers are absolutely right to be up in arms about climate change, and right that they need powerful images to grab people’s attention. Yet some of the slogans being bandied around are genuinely frightening: a colleague recently told me of her 11-year-old coming home in tears after being told that, because of climate change, human civilisation might not survive for her to have children. The problem is, as soon as scientists speak out against environmental slogans, our words are seized upon by a dwindling band of the usual suspects to dismiss the entire issue. So if I were addressing teenagers on strike, or young people involved in Extinction Rebellion and other groups, or indeed anyone who genuinely wants to understand what is going on, here’s what I’d say. My biggest concern is with the much-touted line that “the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says we have 12 years” before triggering an irreversible slide into climate chaos. Slogan writers are vague on whether they mean climate chaos will happen after 12 years, or if we have 12 years to avert it. But both are misleading."

No. What is racist is when a black man is killed by the cops is to automatically assume racism before the facts come out. 4. @FanofMillan how much of that was him being religious or him simply trying to motivate his followers to take on a common enemy? But again, I always try to stay away from Hitler as an example as he is the outlier. And I am willing to admit that religion has caused some damage at times. But in the big picture, many non religious people have caused damage (Stalin), and there are many other factors at play. Heck, if you want to use Hitler how about the fact that Hitler was rejected from art school.

@DeathBYDesign666 who is pushing the belief on whom? With the Roe v Wade decision some people felt that abortion is a right. Others did not. The Roe v Wade decision was those who believe abortion is a right is pushing it on others. So you have to really look in the mirror. I opposed Roe v Wade and guess what, I am not religious. I opposed it because abortion is not listed in the Constitution, thus it becomes a state issue. Some people believe abortion is a right, so they can vote for it at the state level where many states allow abortion. Others feel abortion is not a right and should be restricted, so they vote for it at the state level. That system does not force beliefs on others. Roe v Wade decision did. If the majority favor allowing abortion to be legal it will be that way at the state level. So what is your problem?

Revoking Roe is about the constitution. Nothing in the Constitution mentions religion, so it becomes a state issues. Same with murder, K-12 education, property tax, etc. Thus, the people now choose what they want. Take the state of MS, for example, In 2020 more women than men voted.

" If it's about the Constitution, let's see how Loving v Virginia is dealt with" Easy, marriage is a state issue. States decide if they will recognize marriage or not. If they do via the 14th amendment they can't discriminate via race. Same that it is on the states to decide if they want to have publicly funded K-12 education they can't discriminate by race via the 14th amendment. That was easy.

The second a sitting politician practices a religion then church and state are no longer separate. That is why separation of church and state is not a concept in this nation. What is is what is written in the 1st amendment, government cannot establish religion nor prohibit the practice of it. Fact is you are stubborn. I actually agree with you in many ways. I am trying to help you in that separation of church and state is not a concept and is not in the Constitution, so I suggest you stop using it because going down that path is one you do not want to go down.
