The idea was to place us in a position to keep deaths low. We are there. Even with more cases deaths are not going up. No matter how hard we try people are going to die from this virus, that is with every disease in life. But the important part is that even with more cases deaths are still low. What we are seeing now is a push for herd immunity. Closing up will delay that.

@Bl4ckDoT_ no. It is that he was responsible and will get nothing. Someone who can't pay off the loan benefit. Also, it treats people differently. Warren is not about equality
7
+Daniel Fisher When it grows wealth overall then that is actually good for the economy.
4
@OceanofStarsVR , Ok, why can't people volunteer to work for lower wages at McDonalds?
3
+Serenadesong $40,000 a year is not poor in a lot of areas. Your entire argument is just gibberish.
2
+doubtingmantis Wealth does not equal income.
2
+doubtingmantis If you want money out of politics then you have to get to the root of the problem, that is the federal government having too much power. That is exactly why the founding fathers created the constitution and would have opposed Bernie Sanders. FDR prolonged the recession turning into a depression. The Glass-Steagall repeal did not cause the recession. You hold government accountable by making it as local as possible, not expanding the federal government. Really, I find it crazy how Bernie Sander supporters think. They are complaining about the government so their solution is to expand it? Really?
2
+Joseph Johnson Exactly
2
+Arie Fales Bernie can't even manage his own finances when he makes six figures. So you want a guy who can't manage his own finances to run the country? That is like giving you car keys to a drunk driver.
2
Matt, there are horror stories with every system. I feel a free market system is the best approach. And every system has problems. However, what people have to realize that as a whole the US system and Canada's system are not terrible. Mainly because we are both developed country. Those who push for a single payer system in the US feeling it will be better are delusional as a whole.
2
@charleslainegodoy4965 they had over reaching guidelines such as not allowing people to travel to their second home.
2
Different situation.. Those governors were going too far. For example, in MI she banned travel to someone's second home. If you own a second home you were not allowed to go there. Or religious gatherings were being cited even thought the did a drive in gathering.
2
+Roland Schneider What it shows is that Bernie can't manage his finances and the only job he can ever get was a government job. He has lived off of the government. He has never worked to build anything. That is not who you want as a leader.
1
+Roland Schneider So you round up debt and then wait long enough you don't have to pay for it? Really? College is an investment where you are willing to take a few steps back before you move forward. Bernie is a career politician that got there by running his mouth. That as opposed to our mayor that runs small businesses and rebuilt downtown and still does even as mayor. All Bernie has done is run for political office, that is it. He never built anything, he just ran his mouth. Actual work is developing wealth, not living off of taxpayers money.
1
+Roland Schneider I engage in political discussion to try to improve a situation. Bernie does not want that. He is out there promising free shit and that is it. He has given no specific details on what to improve. He talks about the "crumbling infrastructure" but gives no example. And not all politicians just run their mouth. As I said with my mayor, they own and run businesses even while in office. They did that off of their own dime and hard work.
1
+Serenadesong It isn't that he was poor, it is that he never worked to become rich besides live off of the government.
1
Bernie Sanders supporters are pathetic.
1
+doubtingmantis You don't have to listen to him. Bernie makes how much a year misleading the public? And he is funded by taxes.
1
+doubtingmantis Bernie is a career politician. He never was able to keep an actual job except for being a politician which he got by just running his mouth. The fact that people buy into what he says shows how ignorant his supporters are. Take the "living wage" for example. The inherited flaw of the min. wage is that it is setting a standard on how much one pays per hour, not per week. So if the min. wage is set at $15/hr and someone only works 10 hours a week, are they earning an income high enough to live off of? They are earning a "living wage" according to Bernie. I find it amazing that Bernie's supporters don't question that idea and did not come up with the idea of abolishing wages and demanding a "living salary". But thinking that much will hurt their brains so "living wage" is all they can come up with. Bernie is all rhetoric, that is it. Another example is his "free college". He is literally lying or hiding something from the American people because $70 billion a year will not pay for it.
1
+doubtingmantis I feel Bernie is a politician. He will spew rhetoric to get elected. If he even thinks he can get his policies passed with congress then he is crazy. And if they are passed, if he thinks they can actually work then he is even crazier. Around 2% of min. wage workers work full time. Raising the min. wage to $15/hr is not going to increase hours. His thinking on that is flawed. Corruption exist in government because of the power the federal government has. All a corporation can do is offer you a job or a product. It can't do anything by force. Government can. Money in politics is just a symptom of a disease. That disease is a federal government that has too much power. Increasing the power of the federal government is not going to help. Bernie himself may not be corrupt, but what about future politicians? "There is something wrong with our system when CEOs make on average 475 times more than their average worker," Not really. Look at the executives of Walmart. The top 6 executives of Walmart make a combine $77 million. If they were to take all of that money and give it to the 525,000 employees who earn less than $25,000 a year, they will earn an extra $147 a year. That is it. Those CEOs earn that much because they are in charge of that much. You are looking at the CEO pay compared to the pay of one employee instead of all of their employees. Cutting CEO pay has proven to not do anything to increase pay.
1
+doubtingmantis Bernie is a one trick pony. It is attack the rich and free shit. That is it. He does not listen to anyone. I saw a video of him talking about student loans and how he has letters from people who are having a hard time paying them off. I sent him a letter showing my student loan debt and how I plan on paying it off and understood the risk when I got it. Of course he does not bring that up. " If Bernie becomes president, hopefully he will be able to inform a brainwashed public on what is really going on in the country. Bernie realizes that the media is controlled by powerful corporations that have their own agenda. The people of this country need to get their information from unbiased news sources." That is your job to get info. Are you suggesting that Bernie abolishes free speech? "The younger generation is getting their information from independent journalists" Who are just as bias. FDR turned a recession into a depression. FDR was also corrupt. He threaten to stack the courts with his judges unless he got his way. " Corporations do not have the peoples best interests in mind." And politicians do? "Studies by Princeton University have proven that we have lost our democracy due to the influence of money in politics." Money in politics is just a symptom of a disease. That disease is a government with too much power. If Bernie wins and expands the power of the federal government, what is going to prevent future politicians from being corrupt?
1
+Hewlett Craphard What fact as skewed? He has never been able to keep a job except in politics. He lives off of the government because he has never worked to actually do anything in his life.
1
+Hewlett Craphard Being a career politician is not a job, that is called being a career deceiver. He could not keep a job in the private sector because in the private sector you have to actually work instead of just talk. What issues facing America? He seems to be dramatize them. And Vermont is one state with the second smallest population in the US, so what? And what facts? Really, tell me where I am wrong. All you have done is called me stupid. But of course that is the typical argument a Bernie Sanders supporter will make, because why get into details and use reasoning when emotions are all you need.
1
+Hewlett Craphard He has lived off of the government his entire life. His voting attendance is below average. Only 3 of his laws he has written have become laws, two of them were renaming post offices. He just has to convince people of Vermont, who are a very small portion of our country, to vote for him. I am downplaying what he has advocated at the beginning. In reality his policies will make the "problems worse". The growing income gap is due to the growing socialist policies we have. You have to realize that successful people don't make excuses when faced with challenges, they overcome hurdles. People who are not successful make excuses and thus remain poor. They are the Bernie Sanders supporters. Bernie Sander supporters make excuses and ask for handouts. Successful people don't and actually work. Here is one example. If Bernie gets his 3 months of paid family leave then when someone has a baby they will leave for 3 months because they feel entitled too. You know what will happen? At that job someone will pick up the slack and person will get the promotion and bigger paycheck. Because instead of taking a handout they actually work. And that is just one example. "I repeat... the major issue of income inequality. You're saying he's done nothing which is an outright lie." I explained to you how he will make income inequality worse. While you, and others are making excuses and begging for handouts, others are working. Those that are working do well. "No, it has nothing to do with that. It has more to do with the fact that you are a lost cause and not worth wasting any time on. " So you don't want to take the time to try to convince me to vote for Bernie? He is in a tight race, I feel you need as many votes as you can get.

+Kyle M it isn't Walmart's fault that their employees refuse to get better. Walmart does not have to hire them. Walmart does not pay more because they simply can't afford it. You complain about tax breaks, how about we simplify the tax code instead of making it more complicated like Bernie wants to do.
1
+Kyle M Walmart has a lot of stores, they can always choose to close them down and still function. They can also do with less employees, and at times do. They can also not be open 24 hours a day which means less employees. That is basic business practice. Yes their employees should look at improving themselves. Find a way to earn more or cut expenses. The top 10% pay 70% of federal income taxes while earning over 40% of the income. They are already paying over 30% of their "fair share". The issue with taxes is the complex tax code that needs to be simplified, not made worse like what Bernie wants to do.
1
+Arie Fales I am against a person who never held a job in his life except for being a politician. I don't care if he was poor, I am poor. But the fact that he could not work to improve his life without living off of the government his whole life really shows what type of person he is.
1
+Arie Fales The Trump bankruptcy issue has been addressed a long time before, there is a reason why no one brings it up. It is a part of business. Also, why do you automatically think I am a Trump supporter.
1
+Arie Fales A business has actual assets, something physical. A college degree is essentially worthless, you can't take people's brains.
1
+Arie Fales Maybe they should get a degree that is worth something.
1
+mtnmahogany Nope, people who do not live off of the government their entire life are qualified.
1
+TruthHurts So let me guess, if you ran a health insurance company you will give insurance to a person who was obese as well.
1
+TruthHurts There are several arguments against government ran healthcare. The US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world.
1
+TruthHurts It goes beyond that. The issue is far more complicated than what you think. Also, you get what you pay for.
1
+ptegegn1 The US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world. Who cares if you have access to healthcare if the quality sucks. Also people laugh at European countries as well.
1
I see a lot of dislikes. Bernie supporters come here, dislike, and leave without listening to the video. That is the level of intelligence they have.
1
So the government increases my taxes and tells me that I will save money? So does the government feel I am too stupid to manage my own money? Because that is what I am seeing this as.
1
John Doe, other countries don't switch to the for profit model because radical changes like that leads to economic decline. As a whole the US and other countries are developed and are very successful. Their system "works" well enough that they stick to it. A free market system will be better, but switching to that means telling millions of people to change their way of life they are used to, their finances, and the overall economy. It is why we should not go to a single payer system and why so many Americans oppose it (as seen in the Coloradocare vote). So it is best to stick with what we have and make minor adjustments. Compare it to this. Why doesn't the US switch to the metric system like every other nation uses? I feel the metric system is much easier. Answer, you tell 320+ million people to change. They won't. Now apply that to something complex like healthcare.
1
Nancy, read this book. Single payer is not any better. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf
1
"Healthcare=less dead=happier people." I agree, but is the government the best means to provide it? And why? Is the government hiding doctors, drugs, organs, etc. from people and all we need is to allow them to raise our taxes and everything will be all better? It isn't that simple.
1
So kids can get a proper education. Easy for rich liberals to say keep kids at home, what about kids from low income homes, or special needs kids?
1
@kevinlynch9207 Trump's CDC did not advise that. They said only to sent them to nursing homes if they had no other space and if they can isolate the sick. Cuomo was not in that position. Plus, Cuomo is not following other directives from the CDC such as if cases dropped for 2 weeks to open back up. It was over a month before he even considered.
1
@kevinlynch9207 if you go per capita the US is 10th in the world. Also, the deaths are overstated.
1
@kevinlynch9207 the US is basically 50 nations in one. You cannot coordinate centrally with a nation that large. We never could. That is why state rights exist.
1
@kevinlynch9207 he doesn't have authority. Do you know the role of the federal government? It is limited to dealing with foreign affairs and commerce between states. He cannot force states to shut downs. So no, he could not have done anything beyond banning travel with other nations. Also, every state experienced this differently. NY was hit hard early on where other states did not. South Dakota experienced no problems and thus never shut down. A one size fits all policy will not work.
1
I know Canadians who hate the Canada healthcare system.
1
Cuomo is doing something right for once.
1
The US does not have a free market system in healthcare.
1
Wrong comparison. Those protestors are against the governors going too far such as banning people from going to their second home or doing religious gatherings in cars..
1
@Jeremy Backup the same CDC that said millions will die? Also, with cases going up deaths are not.
