+Evan Wright Bernie has been in congress for like what....3 decades? He should have a general idea.

+Evan Wright They didn't with Obama when he raised taxes. But that is not the point. The point is that Bernie should have a strong idea of what his plan in with how long he has been in congress. He doesn't which is scary in itself.

+Evan Wright Actually on George Stephanopoulos he admitted he will have to raise taxes on everyone.

+Marcus Ryser I guess you didn't see the part that if you include PPP that Denmark is below the US. And if Denmark was a state it would be in the top 10 as far as being the poorest state. You talk about inequality, Denmark has had growing in inequality and is one of the fastest growing in the world. You talk about wealth gap. A wealth gap is good because it means wealth is being developed. Unlike in Denmark where productivity is low. Socialism means you arbitrarily say that certain people are earning too much so you put a gun to their head and force them to pay up for no reason. And when those individuals refuse to work and develop more wealth then what?

+Evan Wright He doesn't. Watch his interview with Bill Maher, he can't even give numbers there.

+Juanita Thomas The democrats had congress for Obama's first 2 years. What were they doing at that time? Oh, that is right, pushing Obamacare which they could not agree on. Also Clinton did well with a republican congress.

+Winston Wood What you said is true. Bernie wants a $15/hr min. wage. The min. wage is a large reason why youth unemployment is so high. Bernie wants to spend money to put the youth to work. So he wants to kill private jobs for the young, and create government jobs for them.

+Marcus Ryser Denmark has a population less than most of our states. It is not a comparison you can make with the US. Also Denmark has mandatory military services where the US doesn't. That produces a completely different society all together.
1
+Marcus Ryser Oh please go into detail. The fact is that if you did you will find out that Denmark is not that great. A larger population means more diversity and a less homogeneous culture. It is easier to create policies when that is the case. But with the completely different society you really can't compare the US to Denmark. If you wanted to one thing you will find that if Denmark was a US state (it is smaller than most of our states) it would be one of the poorest states in the union.

+Marcus Ryser It comes down to checks and balances. You don't want to place all this power in one place. Education and healthcare can be handled in the states. http://www.timbro.se/bokhandel/pdf/9175665646.pdf There is the study

+Marcus Ryser Equality as in what? Everyone has the same low quality goods and services? That is not a successful model you want to follow. You don't improve society by bringing people down. Less poverty? That is debatable. I already showed you that if Denmark was a state it would be one of the poorest. As far as crime? That once again goes back to a complete difference in society. If Denmark had over 300 million people it would face several challenges as well. I see the benefits of "free" healthcare and education. I just don't want all the power to be in one place, neither did the founding fathers.

+Liberals Are The Racists In fairness to him so is every other country. We can just pile on more debt. And if our rating gets lowered we can always just sue like we did in the past. I mean why not at this point?
1
+Liberals Are The Racists We can just sue the rating agencies and raise he debt ceiling. I don't agree with it, and reading some of your comments I agree with you in a lot of ways. I am just saying that under Bernie that is what will happen.
1
+Liberals Are The Racists I agree, but that is what the government will do. It goes back to your original comment. Bernie does not need an unlimited checkbook, he will just raise the debt ceiling and kick the can down the road and die. Meanwhile the people the suffer the most is the middle class.
1
+badpanda84 Because the rich will have access to the best of both healthcare and education and will be the only ones. The poor will take advantage of those "free" programs. The middle class will have to settle for those programs which are inferior. The rich will be the only ones that will be able to afford higher taxes and the private option. The middle class who works hard will be unable to buy the quality they want, and deserve due to higher taxes and higher cost of living because the rich pass the cost onto the consumers and workers. You are assuming that those who are rich will be willing to work for free which is not true.
1
+badpanda84 And that still won't pay for "free" healthcare and "free" college.
1
+badpanda84 Bernie admits that taxing Wall Street won't pay for college, the states will have to pay for 1/3 of it. So what taxes do they raise? Also, how is he going to pay off the 1.2 trillion dollar in student loan debt? He has no plan for that? And his numbers for "free" college are off and surely will fall short. So just a 0.5% tax increase will offer "free" healthcare? The reason why Vermont could not pass it was because it was going to be a lot more than that.

+cuulcars Trickle down economics is not even an economic term. It is a political attack term used by the left to make their opponents look bad without even looking into their policies.
1
+Rita Clement Things like highways and schools are locally funded. Very few people want no government, and having no government will create problems. The issue is that too much government is just as bad. People don't mind smaller more local government. When these programs become federal that is when these programs become a problem. You are trying to support government by pointing towards local programs which is a flaw in your reasoning for having government. I imagine that you support Bernie and his "free" college and "free" healthcare. But using locally funded programs as an example doesn't support your case unless you want those programs to be ran locally as well.

+Victoria Gaven So he wants to force people to work?
1
+Victoria Gaven And how do you do that?
1
+ThatBigCactus The US spends around 18% of it's budget on defense and far more on social services. Norway also has a lot of funds because it is willing to drill for it's oil and sell it. When drilling gets talked about liberals get all paranoid about the environment.

+John Pieloio I would like to see the numbers in how that will pay for things. And I have used healthcare once in 10 years and it cost $30. So raising my taxes will not help me.
