Education is expensive because of the federal government subsidizes.  When you have a third payer in the process then price goes up.  The third payer is flipping the bill so there is no competition thus no reason to keep tuition low, there is no negotiation between the consumer and the seller.  It is simple economics.  Those other countries also have lower quality of universities.  Even though they are free they are not great schools to go to.  The federal government is the reason for higher tuition and higher healthcare.  You want to solve this problem, limit the size of the federal government. Large loans after med. school isn't common.  That woman Sanders pointed to should have went to another school, but in the end, after med. school you are paid well and will pay off that loan quickly.
