+Darkrai's Victum Ford gave out higher wages to attract the best workers and keep them around. He was able to do that because of one reason, he can afford to. Other businesses can't. Also Ford decreased the price of his cars due to his innovation in how to build them faster which increased productivity. It had nothing to do with wages at that point.

+Darkrai's Victum Plus, if you think all it took was a simple increase in wages, then why not $100/hr?
1
+Darkrai's Victum If a business creates something and people have money then the price drops.
1
+Darkrai's Victum "if a business produces something and no ones buys it the price goes down, supply and demand rules" Exactly
1
+Darkrai's Victum The term "living wage" means nothing when broken down. Also, less than 2% of min. wage workers work full time.
1
+Darkrai's Victum I don't recall saying that.
1
+Darkrai's Victum The phrase "living wage" is subjective.
1
+Darkrai's Victum My bad, that was a typo. I meant to say If a business creates something and people have little money then the price drops
1
+Darkrai's Victum I could and have on some items. It all depends on the buyer. I have had the same TV for 10 years, there is no reason for me to buy one. I have waited until the price of a video game dropped to buy a new one. I have waited for the price of a lot of technology to drop before I bought it. That deals with the subjective value theory. If something is too expensive to me then I won't buy it.

If businesses are so sold on cutting wages then how come we have so many businesses that pay above the current min. wage?

What is a living wage? I work a min. wage job. Now just knowing that you may find it hard to believe that I live by myself, own a car, and am close to finishing college. But that min. wage job is a 10 hour a week part time job. My fulltime pays around $14/hr. You can't determine a living wage since there are too many variables involved to determine if a person making a certain wage is making a living or not. Most making $9.50/hr or less are fine.
1
How is that stupid? A lot of people say that if we were to remove the min. wage businesses will pay next to nothing but here we have businesses that pay more than they have too already. This shows that the min. wage if frivolous.

That I am allowed to get a second part time job to supplement my income and that part time job pays the min. wage. What I am saying is that depending on someone's situation they can live off of a min. wage job. Lets say someone works a min. wage job for 20 hours a week, only job they have. But they have a spouse who makes a over $50,000/yr,, no that person doesn't need a living wage. Same with people who have roommates or live with parents. You can't determine a living wage.
1
Individuals that make $9.50/hr or live on average in a household that makes over $47,000/yr. 89% of those individuals live above the poverty level. 95% of parents who earn less than $10,000/yr have a spouse that makes at least $20,000/yr. Point is that this is already happening.

The problem with Bernie Sanders is that he has very little experience in the private sector. He is a great politician to keep getting elected but he is terrible at progressing our country. If he had actual experience in the private sector he will know how bad some of his policies are and that includes raising the min. wage.
1
No, I am advocating people making sacrifices and working hard to move up. Like a businessman pulls out a loan to invest in a company to eventually make profit, everyone has to make sacrifices. Raising the min .wage will prevent people from that in that they can't get part time jobs to compete or unskilled workers can't get jobs in general.
