Not so much the beatings as I still feel that most are peaceful, it is that extreme channels like TYT, Secular Talk and Vox won't debate or discuss the issues. People are seeing past that. Also you have identity politics.

It isn't that simple. For elective and planned procedures we should be able to see the cost, but because of the way insurance works we don't. Insurance is healthcare in this country as it is a form of payment because of the payroll tax. We should be able to see how much healthcare cost and healthcare insurance. We can't though.

"Dude.... you have forced armed services... forced education... forced fire saftey... forced justice... forced roads" Break that down Defense: Constitutional and is only 3% of our GDP Education: Ran and funded locally Fire safety: Ran and funded locally. Many places have a private route and 70% of fire fighters are volunteer Justice: Constitutional Roads: 3/4 of funding for roads is state and local And in all of that they are a small portion of the overall budget. Healthcare is 1/6 of our GDP. You are pushing for a nationalized healthcare system that is a large portion of our economy by looking at state ran programs that are a drop in the bucket in our economy.

theAppleWizz, at the very core on most issues the political right bases their ideas and arguments on facts and reasoning and the political left bases them on emotions. This is why the political left waits until a mass shooting and uses children to push for new gun laws. They have to use emotions because the facts don't support them. Not saying one side is better over the other. Facts are important, but we are human and have emotions. But at the very core that is what it is.

gamer7916, what new laws would have stopped these shootings? Also, where is your stopping point on these laws? We have plenty of laws on the books. There comes a time we have to accept the facts that 1. Accept the fact that nothing is ideal and violence always happens 2. we should find other ways to lower crime all together Also, the NRA and many gun right supporters have supported a new law. That is allowing teachers to be armed with certain restrictions. That is not a bad idea. It is arguable that a gun in the area is enough of a deterrent to stop shootings from happening. Also, many schools already have armed teachers with no issues.

P2DP, car insurance is a state law. Also, you don't have to buy car insurance as long as you don't drive.

P2DP, you have no idea how insurance works. Insurance is there in the market to handle situations that are expensive and unplanned. Such as a car accident or if you house burns down. If you house burns down you need a place to live, so you have home insurance. Insurance companies can also have the ability to drop you if they feel you are too risky. The reason why healthcare insurance in the US has become healthcare is because of the payroll tax. With the payroll tax businesses will end up paying a higher tax if they pay a higher wage. So to counter that they pay with benefits such as insurance. Since healthcare insurance has become a form of payment it has now become healthcare which is, in my opinion, the root of the problem and why the US is not a free market system. People have little choice in who their insurance is and what it covers.

" 45 thousand people died because of it every single year because of lack of access to healthcare." That number is highly misleading. First off that is 0.01% of the population, in comparison 35,000 die a year in traffic accidents. Next, people die in other countries as well due to shortcomings in healthcare. Many die in waiting lines in other countries. Also, those 45,000 are poor to begin with and there is a correlation between bad health and being poor. Poor people have higher rates of obesity, type II diabetes and smoking. So the question becomes are they dying because of lack of access or because of being in bad health to begin with.

"Oh god, you are hilariously ignorant. I could describe insurance to you by creating a nursery rhyme for it and it would still be too "difficult" for you to understand." You don't understand how insurance works, so it might be best if you stop trying to explain it.

"Well regulated militia", yes, I agree. Not "well regulated guns". Also, it says "the right of the people" just like in other amendments. I can read as well.

Absolute, the Chicago argument is that criminals know that law abiding citizens lack guns there so it is an easy target. Now there is more than that to the issue, but that is a part of it.
1
Absolute, define an "assault weapon". Next, the VA Tech shooter used hand guns and killed around 30 people. An "assault weapons" ban will not work.
1
You ban the AR 15 they can use the Mini Ruger 14. For all intents and purposes it is the same gun.

There are arguments on both sides on this issue to save lives. Problem is that Hogg feels if you disagree with him you don't support saving lives. I disagree with Hogg on this issue but I want to save lives. What he is doing is silencing his opponent as opposed to having an actual discussion with them. He is being a bully and to be honest anyone who wants any type of new gun law being passed should stop giving this guy air time. He is pushing people away from new gun laws as many literally see him as a little Hitler.
1
G C, his approach is turning a lot of people off which is why people attack him. You don't see constant attacks on Emma Gonzalez because she doesn't have their angry attitude where she can't be touched. Hogg is causing more harm than good. I am looking at joining the NRA because of him.

Also, since someone brought up fire and education, in comparison if your house burns down the fire department puts it out. They do not buy you a new home. With education all they do is "educate" you, they do not guarantee you anything beyond that. After a K-12 education you are not guaranteed a job.

I think Vox is ran by idiots. Just because he is a "conservative judge" does not disqualify him. Even at that Gorsuch is more "centrist" than what this guy is making him out to be. He has ruled with judges on both parties. And nothing at the federal level is ever determined by the popular vote, ever. This fool talking about "popular" is, but definition, dividing the country as it is an us vs them way to creating law.
