Young work force....ok. Here is how this is working out. People like Bernie Sanders pushes for a min. wage. We get it and jobs for teenagers go away increasing teenage unemployment. So now the government wants to spend money to create teenage jobs that they destroyed. It just keeps growing, the government dependence. This is no different then how federal government taxes in the 40s led to the healthcare problems we have now to where the ACA was passed (which in turned created more problems). Government creates a problem and then uses that problem to expand.

Gustavo Sautter Working is a great way for someone to gain experience in the workforce so when they are an adult they can have experience to get better jobs.

***** It makes sense. Le me re-word it. We get the min. wage, and that leads to higher teenage unemployment. So what does the government do? It grows by increasing spending to try to fix the very problem it created, teenage unemployment. The is a pure example of the government creating a problem and making us more dependent on them.

***** How? When you raise the price of labor those with less skills won't get hired, thus teenagers. And when teenagers enter the workforce at a later age they are now hindered from getting better jobs in the future. Spending toward what? Spending towards creating jobs for teenagers. That is the bill that got shot down.

***** You say that but in reality it will. Being basically a career college student (I am a grad. student) I know several people with zero work experience that after they graduate college are not able to get a job. You feel that at 22 you will be able to find a job, well good luck. Now there are those who don't go to college. When they turn 18 they are now missing 2 years of experience where they could have gained and then earn a higher paying job at the age of 18. Teenagers matter a lot to the economy.

***** A grad student studying physical chemistry. And that 2 years of experience help me get an on campus job, and help me get into grad. school with a GPA of 3.3 from a small college. The pay may not be much different (it as around a dollar for me) but the experience is huge. Learning how to deal with other people i society, how to show up on work on time. I know of grad. students who can't do that simple task. Plus you have to realize that the number of hours plays a role as well. You are more likely to get full time work of you have experience where when you first enter the workforce you will get part time.
