Wars are federally funded. Infrastructure is state and local. Talk to your local government.

This was a new bridge.

And this was an investment into infrastructure, didn't exactly work.

Kyle is an extremist. This is how they act. Notice how Kyle never debates anyone or has any guest? Bringing up the fact that a bridge is X years old is not an argument. The Golden Gate bridge is over 100 years old. It is fine.

Insurance, lawsuits. Older buildings, for example, have lead. If someone were to get hurt or sick in an old building that becomes grounds for government regulations.

Irving, every infrastructure project is done by private businesses. They are called contractors. You don't have government concrete layers out there, they are private.

The D rating, to me, is a bit deceptive. We have some areas in the nation where we simply cannot improve due to limited space. Take, for example, the 680 freeway in south bay. The traffic sucks but that is because of large growth in a corner. How do you expand without stopping traffic and making even worse?
1
Irving Ceron, how do you improve infrastructure in highly populated areas with high traffic and limited space? That is the challenge one faces. That plus the pure cost of building infrastructure. It is not as easy as a "new deal".
1
Irving, governments don't build roads or buildings or any type of infrastructure. Private companies do, period. They bid for a contract offered by the government. This has been going on for decades. When you say "done by our government" what exactly do you mean?
1
For those talking about investing in infrastructure, this was a new bridge. That is not an indication of how our old bridges are. As for Kyle talking about a private company, every infrastructure project is done by a private company.

Define "bad shape"

How many bridges fall down a year?
1
Ch33to Sesh, that is the fault of the people in charge.
1
Most infrastructure spending is state and local. You can't blame the federal government for this.
1
Updating our infrastructure is not that easy. Our population has grown so much and in most places where infrastructure is needed it is in areas of high traffic. You can't just stop traffic as productivity will stop.
1
And how are you going to just stop the flow of traffic in the bay area or LA area?
