Her argument is that the billionaire underpays the workers. That is a shallow argument with no intellectual thoughts. The internet has become a place to talking points.

@Israel-nb7ip , no one paid that 90% rate. In 1967 there were 155 Americans who earned over $200,000 that year and paid $0 in federal income taxes. That is why the Tax Reform Act of 1969 was passed. Wages have been, arguably, going up for years.

@davidallen111 , not true. Take the healthcare argument for example. When you push the issue the left ends up using appeal to emotion statements such as everyone should have a "right" to healthcare and no on should die due to lack of access. The right states the fact that resources are limited and something has to give. No healthcare system covers everyone. I come here often and many times I post studies and books on that issue and get attacked with emotional arguments where people say I don't care about the average man. They get emotional when I get factual.

Jay Are Goes Hard , no.

There isn't any falsehoods. People understand marginal tax rates. The point was that 70% is very high for shallow reasons. This twitter comment was shallow. A billionaire underpaying workers? Really? Is that the argument she has? This is why AOC is a joke.
1
@pinkponyofprey1965 , Bernie had nothing to do with that.
1
@kaderathebeekeeper22m3 , no. But if she is than why does she have to bring up the point of the billionaire underpaying workers? That is a shallow point to make.
1
@deannasmith4443 , you should not be talking about economics if you don't know what capitalists are. You are a capitalist, I am as well. If I decided to eat at KFC over Popeyes today I acted like a capitalist making a choice.
1
@jayklassen384 , Bernie did not do that. Amazon gave raises because of the growing economy. Most of their workers were already being paid $15/hr as is. Also, define a "living wage". You don't sound intelligent when you through out talking points.
1
@Ragnarok3435-x5w 1. That is not true. The economy is growing and because of that wages are going up. In fact, I worked for Amazon at one point and I was paid $12/hr. I was looking last year and saw they raised the wages to $12.75 now. They were raising wages to begin with. And no, purchasing power has not been dropping. 2. How many people are employed by billionaires? 3. They did not pay that rate. Wealth inequality is arguably a good thing.
1
@deannasmith4443 https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/capitalist "practicing or advocating capitalism" "owning capital" Way to cherry pick definitions.
1
Khashon Haselrig , if they pay below the market rate than no one will work for that company.
1
Who supports lower wages?
1
He knows how the tax code works. He is being a politician. No different than when Bernie Sanders talks about a "living wage" with no actual details. Politicians act like this.
1
@kyle9401 , politicians act like this. This is why the founding fathers wanted limited government as the common man is not expected to be knowledgeable on everything. Not saying what he did was right, just saying that politicians act like that. You see it happen on the left as well.
1
@kyle9401 , I am not taking political sides either. I am saying both sides do it. So have does it not make me look intelligent? I never said it was OK either. When did I say it was OK?
1
@ometta7 , well, good thing the created the Constitution. Also, the result was back to limited government. So I don't see your point there.
1
@KyrieChii , the basic idea of limiting government remains the same. The constitution allows for growth and reduction of government, it is mainly at the state level where at the state and local level you have more control over the government. The Constitution gave defined duties to the federal government and than allowed the states to cover the rest of the issues within the confines of the Constitution. So the basic idea remains.
1
There is value in being morally correct. The issue is that it subjective. That is why moral issues should be left up to the local community and not the federal government. I understand what you are saying and for the most part agree with you, but there is value in being morally correct.
1
When you dig deep at the core the political left bases their ideas on emotions and the political right bases their ideas on facts and logic. Look at AOC, her reasoning was that the billionaire pays too little which is based off of ??????
1
@lallig8860 , you have a point. Numbers are not people. That is why both emotions and facts and logic are needed. That is why we need both sides of the political spectrum. If you go too extreme in one direction you have problems. For example, take the elderly. There is an emotional argument to be made to keep them alive. However, with numbers they produce almost nothing objectively and on the extreme end of the spectrum there one can argue they should just die because, in the end, resources are limited. Not saying I support that as I don't, but saying there is an emotional side and a factual side.
1
@jerryc2475 "history the ultra wealthy pay less now than they have in any other time in history." Where is the evidence for that? The number of people who work two or more jobs has been dropping.
1
@kaderathebeekeeper22m3 , what do you mean by the economy being at its peak? That is a vague question.
1
@ometta7 , during that time every other nation was rebuilding giving us an edge economically. Also, no one paid that high of a rate. In 1967 there were 155 Americans who earned $200,000 a year or more and paid $0 in federal taxes. That is why the Tax Reform Act of 1969 was passed.
1
Both sides say dumb things. AOC, in that tweet, talked about a billionaire underpaying workers.
1
She will never be president.
1
@manuelb5466 , Trump actually knows how to communicate with the common man. AOC can't.
1
@blackfirefox666 , AOC does not know the struggles of the average person.
1
@michaelg.3042 , yep, after earning a degree. She was so dumb with a college degree she could not get a job that paid more.
1
@adnansusic566 , the average person who gets a college degree actually gets a higher paying job. They don't become a bartender. They are a bartender while pursuing a degree.
1
@Israel-nb7ip , when have you debunked me? Trump won because he went to swing states and rallied. He spoke to the common man.
1
@longclaw22-72 , maybe they should get a degree that is actually worth something.
1
@Israel-nb7ip , voter turnout was on par with previous elections.
1
@GordieKat , if my interest is to sit on my porch and drink beer should I get rich off of that?
1
Except there is a bunch to rip AOC on.
