  1. The federal government can control commerce between states, so if a state pollutes another one the federal government can get that state to stop. So there is a balance.

  2. Think about mining areas. In some places lead is dumped into the ponds there. That water does not leave that area. Why should the federal government step in and tell them to stop? Doing so harms that state's economy. They are only polluting their water supply.

  8. caller347, that is not true, wages are not lower. Also, less people are working multiple jobs. As for the OP's comment, it is easily arguable if climate change is even a threat.

  9. caller347, the climate has been changing for over 4 billion years and during that time the ecosystem evolved. On wages, read the paper entitled "Did Wages Reflect Growth in Productivity?" by Martin Feldstein. There are many ways to measure wage growth and inflation growth. Some methods show wages dropping and others show wages going up. If you use PCE inflation wages have outpaced inflation because CPI inflation is a half of a percent higher than PCE. Read the paper entitled "Fifty Years of Growth In America Consumption, Income, and Wages" by prof. Bruce Sacerdote of Dartmouth College. There he argued wages have grown 24% since the 70s.

  10. caller347, many praised Al Gore for his movie. Also, people like Kyle, Bernie Sanders, and many on the left are not scientists. I am and I disagree with the left on the issue of climate change and support what Trump is doing. So right away, by your standard, my opinion is stronger than yours.

  13. caller347, you need to understand what wealth is. If someone had debt they could have negative wealth. A person with no debt and only $10 to their name has more wealth than 25% of the nation. Why? Because many people, like me, have debt either in homes, a business or student loans. I have negative wealth but I have a reliable car, my own apartment, I eat well and I have all that I need. My negative wealth comes from my student loans. The average home owner has 30 times more wealth than a renter. The average home owner has around 60% of their wealth tied into their home. Beyond owning a home a person has little wealth, but they could still be fine. Compare that to Bezos who has a lot of wealth due to his numerous shares he owns of Amazon. Or the Walton family who owns half of the shares of Walmart. That is where their wealth comes from. That is not actual income, it is simply shares of a company that the market values high. CO2 levels are still very low and were much higher thousands of years ago and the ecosystem still changed. I study physical chemistry, in particular I study vibrational states in molecules. The science community agrees climate change is an issue on the idea we should continue to research it. But there is no strong conclusion if it is a threat. I can't comment on arms selling as I have not read up on that, but every president has done that. I support what Trump is doing to the EPA.

  16. The EPA should only deal with commerce much like the FDA does. That is what this change is going to do, allow states to manage their own EPA and the federal government will handle commerce.
