Danielle Riley That is true. The problem is that people on the left feel that the rich have it so easy. In reality they are the ones that work over 40 hours a week. They are the ones who are hardly home or spend much time with their families. I have worked with very successful people in my time and I have seen them work 14 hour long days coming in at 6 in the morning and leaving at 8 at night. They don't get to see their kids football games or school concerts. It is a lot of sacrifice they make. When the left say the rich are lazy that is about as asinine as it gets but that is the mentality that people have.

Philip Define hard work? I can dig a hole in the desert for hours and I would have worked hard and produced nothing. Or I can work in my lab with AC, easy access to water, a chair to rest when I want too, flexible hours and so on and make a lot more. You are paid on what you produce, not how hard you work.

jose quervo Wow, ok. That is funny. First, what 40 subjects must you understand to be able to understand quantum mechanics and advance physics? I actually have a degree in physics and in graduate school in physical chemistry and I can tell you it isn't 40 subjects. Also, just because you know a subject doesn't mean you are highly skilled. If you can't use it then it is worthless. I know the subject and use it on a daily basis. Now what books did you study quantum mechanics on? And what "advanced physics" did you study?

jose quervo Which part? With a degree in physics you study every part broadly. In graduate school you take a few general courses (in my case 4) and then focus on one. I find it quite surprising that you never heard of physical chemistry and has me questioning if you have ever studied physics. Every person who studied physics knows what physical chemistry is. In graduate school you are not sitting in a classroom, you are actually doing it. I am starting to question if you have really studied those subjects.

Alex xeon Exactly. During my time in working in public education I have develop the attitude that people are poor for a reason. If you are poor then sorry, but push your kids to at least succeed.

Philip That is a lie. One, productivity has gone up because of new technology and new ways of doing work. Those who have invested in creating that new technology and inventing it have seen wages go up. The worker's job have become easier and goods and services have gotten better and more affordable increasing the value of the dollar. People drive better cars, have high speed internet, better phones, Blu-Ray players and so on. That is what you have to look at. Whenever someone compares wages to productivity they are making a very deceptive comparison. That is like saying people lose weight while taking meth. It is and extremely poor comparison and doesn't come close to telling the whole story.

***** How can you say the US is moving down? We have been losing jobs all the time in this country's history, that is how we develop. We don't progress by holding onto archaic jobs that don't produce much, we progress by allowing new jobs to be created, jobs that are better overall.Car ownership has been going up, college enrollment has been going up. People are having less kids later. Society as a whole is improving.

I guess I have a computer programming degree as well and I am a computer programmer now.

Ylze Tyr So what you are saying is that I can give Jose my Electrodynamics book by Jackson and he will be able to read it and understand it. Or if I were to take him into my laser lab he would be able to run my set up, scan a sample and explain what is happening using time dependent perturbation theory along with other forms of quantum theory. That is what you are saying.

Ylze Tyr And there are a lot of things I can do that he can't with skills I developed both in and out of college. The difference between me and him is that through college I have developed skills to become a problem solver and a thinker. He is just a doer. Anyone can read an instruction manual and do what thousands of others do. No different then driving a car. Just because you know how to drive a car doesn't make you an engineer. What makes you an engineer is trying to develop a better line of vehicles.

jose quervo Yesterday at work I hardly sat at all. As I told the other individual through studying in college I have obtained knowledge to be a problem solver and come up with new ideas. That is actual intelligence as opposed to doing grunt work.

Ylze Tyr I didn't run away because you either would have played the game of "I can't find it" or " you are not giving any sources" when I do. We have played this game before. And then you will counter with a source from the HuffingtonPost or ThinkProgress or some other liberal site which would be similar to me giving a source from the Heritage Foundation.You just need to admit to yourself, you are a myopic radical. You are about as ignorant as it gets. Whenever you have a problem in life or your life is terrible you need to remember is it because of your ignorance.
