Zidneya Really? Referencing Michael Moore on capitalism is about as dumb as it gets. Michael Moore made a living off of capitalism. The best was seeing his movies being sold in Walmart.

***** That is debatable.

***** It is hard to compare one country to another. Each country is different in several ways. Try to compare Denmark to the US. The US is one of the most diverse countries in the world if not the most diverse. Denmark has a population of 5 million people, less than most of our states. You can't compare. That is why I say it is debatable. If Denmark, or other countries had to deal with what we do then the story will be different. Really when you factor in the diversity of the US and see how successful it is it is impressive.

TheKeyser94 It is not a made up excuse. After WWII most of the world was rebuilding, the US wasn't. That is another factor, difference in history. We can't compare. Also the US spends more then most European countries on K-12 anyway.

TheKeyser94 After 1929 the US did expand the size of the federal government with the New Deal, SS, Medicare and Medicaid and higher taxes and business regulations. It also became the time where we had the slowest recovery from a recession ever. In the past other recessions took around 5 years to recover from with little to no federal government involvement. When the federal government got involved growth stagnated. It was the federal government pushing for socialist programs that slowed us down. We created the department of ed. in 1980 and our K-12 has been stagnate. The federal government has little involvement in college education and the US has arguably the best in the world. The federal government's only involvement are loans which have caused tuition to go up thus they caused more problems. I see what our country had done and look at the results. I don't compare us to other countries because there differences are too great.

TheKeyser94 As I said before the US spends more money on K-12 education than a lot of European countries.

5allum He is wrong on capitalism though. In capitalism you have a choice. You can choose to go to another business if you don't like one. In capitalism you can't be greedy. A business owner won't be able to sell their goods if they are too expensive and won't be able to get workers if they don't pay them well. What Moore is describing is not capitalism. Moore has made a living saying catch phrases and being wrong while profiting off of other people's misery. There is a reason why after he looked like a fool at Occupy and was called out in public he hasn't made a movie since.

5allum No I am describing what capitalism is. "It's normal for companies to give their employees as low a wage as possible". No it isn't. Less than 5% of workers earn at or below the min. wage. "It's normal for companies to form cartels and price fix." No it isn't.

Segregation was forced by law. Money in politics wouldn't be a problem if we actually followed the constitution and had limitations on the federal government. Bernie Sanders wants to dismantle the constitution and create a system where we have a corrupt government much like FDR did. Sanders is too radical to be president, he won't win many votes outside of Vermont.
1
george dude The constitution was designed to place limitations on the government and create checks and balances. It was to prevent corruption. FDR create a system of federal government having little limits and thus can't be checked and thus can be corrupted. Bernie Sanders supports the same thing. He may not support corruption but when he is gone what is going to stop future politicians from taking advantage of their power at the federal level?
1
george dude I actually don't agree with him. The issue that is not addressed here is what is going to stop future politicians from misusing their power? That is what the constitution is supposed to stop. Herman Cain was asked a similar question on his 9 9 9 plan, he couldn't answer the question.
