Ok, now how do you enforce it without a gun registry? None of my guns are registered. So if I were to sell my guns to someone how do you track it? This sounds like the bump stock ban where no one returned their bump stock.

That is what the left is pushing.

@johnpliskin8759 , also, this law will only harm law abiding citizens.
3
@Amenti_H , right now background checks only check on criminal history. So if you actually committed a crime you are denied a gun. The left wants to prevent people with a "mental health problem" from owning guns where in reality mental health is very vague.
2
I know, such bad people looking after your rights.
2
@johnpliskin8759 , not it's not. You can kill bugs that enter your home as you know they are there. The only way this law can be enforced is with a gun registry so they know where the guns are.
2
@buzzhawk , fixing the person is realistic and keeps people's rights. With your mindset let us allow search and seizure to lower crime.
2
@Mind of the North Star , I don't see how you can enforce this without a gun registry. None of my guns are registered, so how will you know if I sell mine? Those with a violent criminal past already can't own a gun. As for mental health issue, you can't deny people of owning a gun for that reason unless they do something.
2
@Mind of the North Star , that is an issue of culture. Those nations have lower murder rates to begin with. Take the UK for example. The US has a murder rate that is 5 times higher than the UK. If you remove just gun murders from the US the US will still have a murder rate that is twice as large as the UK. At that point the issue is culture, not guns.
2
@isaackoenen6217 , that is what they seem to be pushing for. I ask this a lot. If this gun law gets passed and another mass shooting happens, then what? Is that the time where you don't push for more gun laws?
2
@johnpliskin8759 , what is the next step? If another mass shooting happens, what will be the next law? Where is the stopping point?
1
John Hillman , exactly, won't happen.
1
@Mind of the North Star , there are lots we can do. How about we fix the person and not push to take guns away from law abiding citizens.
1
@Mind of the North Star , tell me, how will this bill lower gun crime?
1
@buzzhawk , they do as this can lead to a gun registry and removal of guns.
1
Jojoboi oil , so you have no desire to help the person? Than why pay for social welfare programs?
1
In order to enforce this you have to create a gun registry which people won't agree to.
1
@anotherks7297 , murders per capita.
1
This isn't an "open and shut" issue. How many of those 90% support a gun registry? Also, is this really an important issue? If it is such an important issue why are many states relaxing gun laws?
1
Now how do you enforce this law without a gun registry? Also, you do know the NRA pushed for background checks.
1
@FastDamone , those nations have low crime to begin with due to culture. For example, in the UK the US has a murder rate that is 5 times higher than the UK. Remove only gun murders from the US the US still has a murder rate that is twice as high than the UK. We are simply a more violent nation. Also, we don't have mass shooting daily. Depending on how you look at it many other developed nations have more mass shootings.
1
@bghiggy , exactly. Not every shooting is the same. No different than when people claim we have a lot of school shootings but lumps someone committing suicide on school grounds at night with a shooter doing an actual shooting as the same. Gun law advocates love to inflate the numbers.
