The issue of gun laws never gets brought up until after a shooting. The reason why is because guns are not an issue. None of these proposed laws would have prevented this tragedy. It is democrats trying to play with people's emotions to take away our rights.

Owning a gun is a right, read the 2nd amendment again. Well regulated means prepared, and the people are the militia. "But I'm telling you, as a social scientist who's studied the issue, weapon regulations reduce weapon related deaths." Not stat shows that. In the US the number of guns in this country has been increasing and gun murders have been dropping.

You have to learn one basic fact first, there is no clear definition for "mass shooting". Also, what goes on in Australia is irrelevant compared to the US. You can't compare countries side by side like that and say that one difference is simply due to one factor-in this case the difference is shooting and the factor being gun laws. If it were that simple then every country will be doing it and it will be working. It isn't because there are countries that have strict gun laws with more shootings. It isn't that black and white.

Around 2/3 of our deaths are from suicides. Funny that you mentioned Japan because they have a higher suicide rate than the US. I am sure if Japan had lighter gun laws they would have far more gun deaths off of that alone. The issue is not guns.

"crime has been declining since the 70s. that doesn't mean that it's because of guns. " I 100% agree. "In your fantasy, where everyone is strapped, " Way to assume things. That have never been my fantasy. "If more guns led to less gun crime, we'd already have the lowest gun crime/death rate outta all the modern and industrialized nations." I agree it is more complicated than what people make it out to be. But if more guns meant more crime then the US will have a very high crime rate. The murder rate in the world is 6 people per 100,000. The US sits below 4 people per 100,000. Guns are not a problem in the US. Most gun deaths are suicides which are not gun related. Most murders with guns are gang and drug related in inner cities where poverty is high. Taking people's rights away is not a solution. It is simply a feel good policy by people who don't want to tackle the major issues facing our country.

You are comparing politicians to non-politicians. If you want to play that game than look at OWS or what happens in Berkeley almost weekly. Left wing protesters shut down streets and building that are trying to be used by people.

Nice rebuttal.

I am not ok with that they did. The original poster compared a group of politicians to a bunch of civilians. If you want to compare the action of civilians and political affiliation than those on the left do far more outrageous things more often.
1
The OWS people shut down streets to prevent people from working and emergencies from taking the quickest route to an emergency. That is just as dangerous and was nationwide. You see that a lot from supporters of the political left, they shut down bridges and streets which puts people's lives in danger and do it often. I am not condoning what the Bundy's did, but that is a one time incident.
1
They took over an empty building where not other people were involved. OWS blocked roads causing emergency vehicles to take longer routes. And OWS was nationwide.

And what about Trump protesters flipping police vehicles? You have that one as well.
1
And in case the link didn't post, in NY a police officer was stabbed during the OWS protest and protesters got in the way of the ambulance. But keep running with your Bundy story, I bet I can find more instances from the BLM group and Trump protesters alone.
1
It was an empty building and they told people so no one will get hurt. Flipping over police cars is far worse.
1
So they threaten people but do nothing. Meanwhile Trump protesters flip police cars and a cop was stabbed in the OWS protest.
1
Meanwhile Trump protesters vandalize cop cars.
1
It is childish how they acted.

People don't discuss gun laws between mass shootings because all the facts are against gun control advocates. It is discussed after a mass shooting because it is appealing to emotions. I love how Kyle says he has "data" but doesn't present any. The Harvard meta analysis was countered with another Harvard analysis. Both studies were not peer reviewed and were basically a side project by Harvard professors with an agenda. Even at that the analysis that Kyle is talking about is talking about number of guns and relation to gun homicides. So is he pushing for a gun ban or just a background check? The latter does not change the number of guns. If you look across the US you will see that the number of guns in the US has been increasing and gun murders have been decreasing. Also, if you go state by state you don't see a correlation between guns and murders by guns.
