Zeke m, I feel the left hates America. The left was the one who gave the federal government this power to control healthcare reform. The right wanted to leave it to the states, instead the left wanted to shove it down everyone's throats. Now when someone gets in power you do not like and changes things you complain. What goes around comes around.
2
Zeke, we are around $20 trillion in debt. We lack doctors, nurses, surgeons, researchers, etc. How does the left expect to give everyone healthcare? Do you think the government can magically make these things appear? I do not see any of them working to become doctors. The right are being realist here.

Danelle, it is impossible to cover everyone. Now you say that they want to cover more, how? At what expense? To be the with the left is they feel that more government is the solution when government created the problem. "How about the concept that Healthcare shouldn't be a political issue? " But it is now thanks to the left. "Single-payer healthecare means the PEOPLE have the power." How? How much control do you have in the roads that are built or how the school is ran? Also, if we had single payer and another Trump like president got into control, then what?
2
Zeke, that is not true at all.

Danelle, defense spending accounts for around 17% of our total federal budget and around 3% of our GDP. Healthcare accounts for around 1/6 of our GDP. Other countries face problems as well. Government has been a problem with the creation of the payroll tax. I have you two resources to read on the topic. Your only argument, on this complex issue, is to show that you have no clue how our federal budget is ran and to say other countries do it. That is not a coherent argument.

Danelle, and US citizens get better results in many ways compared to other countries.

"If Medicare is such a cost-heavy burden as you seem to imply, why is it one of the most popular programs in the country? " Just because it is popular does not mean it is an efficient system. "About 96 percent of medicare coverage goes to actual health care expenses while their counterparts in the private health insurance industry only contribute about 80 percent of their expenses to actual healthcare." That is deceptive. With insurance companies some of that 20% goes towards things to lower healthcare insurance prices such as fraud prevention and disease awareness. Medicare does not have to do disease awareness because they have another government program for that, the CDC which comes from a different budget. Insurance companies do not have that luxury. " If single payer is such a flawed system, it would not literally exist in every other modern nation on Earth. " And they have many shortcomings as well. When you run through the numbers you will see that they are not any better than us.
2
"You don't see anyone rallying against Medicare and arguing for a more privatized system except for republican politicians themselves." Being louder does not mean you are right.
2
The problem with the pre-existing conditions is that people will wait until they are sick to get insurance. Now add in the fact that companies cannot raise premiums to a certain point and you have a mess. Insurance is something to pay for just in case you need it.

"tell me again under which system do people actually die or go bankrupt?" In every system people die because of shortcomings. Nothing is ideal. When you run through the numbers nothing suggests that single payer is any better than what the US has now. "but I simply believe it is immoral to profit off of healthcare, " Profit motives does lead to better results in many ways. Advancement in healthcare comes from profit motives. " because the best societies have a good mix of capitalism and socialism." That is debatable. Also, to what degree? Do you feel Norway is strong? They are because of their oil. The same people who push for socialism in the US hate oil. Denmark had mandatory military for years. The same people pushing for socialism in the US hate the military. How do you want to implement that mix with a country of 320+ million people? " If you can find me a good example of a privatized system that is efficient where nobody goes bankrupt I'm all ears. " You find me a system with no problems I am all ears. You support single payer. That's fine. But you have to accept that it has many shortcomings as well.
