@Babygirlly555 , I work in the public school system at times and I have seen students who don't care. Those are the ones who end up poor. I remember when I was working in the kitchen in the restaurant and one person refused to work on a Sunday morning because they wanted to party on Saturday, so I picked up the hours. That person is now poor where I am a PhD candidate. It wasn't like I had more opportunity, I simply worked harder.

Most poor people. Noticed in this video Kyle never has a legit argument against this politician's point?
2
Most people are poor because of their own personal choices. Noticed how in this video Kyle does not give an actual argument against what this politician said and resorted to talking points? Because this politician is correct.
1
@EVIL-C , the vast majority who are poor are so because of their own actions. Noticed how Kyle had no actual argument here and only had talking points? Because this is a point he, nor his fans can argue against. People are poor due to their actions. Kyle claimed there are people working full time who are poor which is statistically not true. Of those working full time all year only around 2% collect food stamps. Yes, unfortunate events happen, but with that people should turn to friends and/or family for help. Or the local community through charities or maybe even a local, temporary government assistance. But that's it. I support what this politician says and I face hardships. I was raised poor but I was able to graduate high school, than college, and then move 1500 miles away for graduate school where I am a PhD candidate. To extend on myself when I was working at a restaurant no one wanted to work the 4 AM shift on a weekend, so I did. I did so because I worked hard and it led me to go to grad school. A lot of people I know who refused to work that shift are poor. Reality is that people are poor due to their actions. They may not want to be poor, but actions speak louder than words.

@layinlow77 , of people working full time year round only around 2% collect food stamps. That is minute. Kyle does not give a specific argument, he only has talking points that are easily debunked. I watched the video.
1
@layinlow77 , to add, you are being partisan just believing Kyle's argument. Saying "many people" is not a hard value that you can compare to. I gave a hard value of 2% where the poverty rate is around 15%. Also, why is someone working full time and is poor? Is it something they did? Can they get out of that situation? You need more context. 2% is obviously not the norm as 98% are not poor of full time workers. You just can't have talking points, you need to form an actual argument. Kyle does not do that.

@EVIL-C , $30,000 is not poverty level, so they are not poor. At that point you can get roommates, cut expenses, or get a 2nd job if you don't have enough money. As for being college educated and not keeping a job, that is their fault. You don't always get to work the job you are passionate about. That's life. If I had my way I would just drink alcohol and watch movies all day and get paid for it, but I don't. So I found a career I enjoy enough and can earn a living off of. I work with people who are disable (people first language bud). I sympathize with them and do feel we should help them out. That is a completely different topic. The reality is that people, for the most part, are poor because of their own actions.
1
@layinlow77 , people work part time because they refuse to find full time work. That is the issue. Kyle makes no argument, he just resorts to talking points.

@EVIL-C , I would not date a woman who is that materialistic. You start out with a low salary and work your way up. I am not saying you should stick to that low salary forever. And if you do than that is your choice to live a simple life. I know plenty of people who lived on that low of an income and were fine. People get laid off, that's life. You should be flexible enough to find work. You say find a career you "enjoy", sometimes you don't get a job you completely enjoy. That's life. That is how progress is done. If everyone just did what they wanted to do than no progress will be done. Individuals who are disable is a completely different topic. But we can discuss individuals with a mental health problem if you want and how the federal government made that situation worse with the Community Mental Health Act of 1963. Most people are poor because of their own life choices. I was at a Walmart the other day and was reminded why I don't like to go there. The shelves were not stocked, no one put the carts back to where they belong, the people there were not dress well. You look at that and you see that people are poor for a reason. When you can't take the time to put the cart back to where it belongs and just leave it in the middle of the parking lot, that is laziness.

@edwardalyassin7887 , someone has to work those low wages jobs, but they are for people who 1. Just entering the workforce 2. Working part time for extra income 3. Retired people doing busy work There are plenty of workers like that in the market. Most min. wage workers work part time to begin with.
1
Zel Zwrd , I can provide stats if you want and have. For example, of those working full time all year only around 2% collect welfare. The idea that full time workers are poor, as Kyle claims, is false.
1
For the most part it is their fault.
1
@stratecaster547 , people do struggle in those nations.
1
What he said is true. Most people who are poor because it is their fault.
1
@lexort4204 "your a stupid troll" Hmmm........
1
@stratecaster547 , Kyle made no argument, he only had talking points. He just repeats the same talking points over and over again. Just because the Walton family is rich does not mean others are poor. There is a debate, the fact you just dismiss it means you have no ability to support your side of the argument.
1
@stratecaster547 , the problem is that Kyle misrepresents the data he is looking at and ignores the complexity of the issue. For example, when he says that 50% of the country earns $30,000 or less, he is ignoring variables such as household income, benefits, cost of living, etc. You can't just throw a number out there and expect it to mean anything without perspective. He is really bad at that and it makes him sound like a fool to someone who actually understands stats and data. Also, you talk about an outlier, Kyle literally looked at the Walton family as an argument for why people are poor. That is an outlier.
1
@stephj9378 , the problem with Kyle is that when he looks at stats and data he completely misrepresents it by ignoring the complexity of the issues. Take wealth inequality that he brings up. Most who are very wealthy, like the Walton family, are that way because of the shares of their company they own. The average person does not desire to be a major shareholder of a company to where beyond owning a home the average person has little to now wealth, and there is plenty of data to show that. Also, many people, like me, have negative wealth due to a home loan or a college loan. That contributes to the massive wealth inequality we have. That is arguably a good thing as it shows our nation is so rich that we allow others to get into debt to do major purchases to better themselves. In a poor nation people don't have that opportunity. Just spouting out numbers with no perspective makes him look foolish.
1
@stratecaster547 , I will add that Kyle's methods is far from being intellectual.
1
For the most part it is a choice
1
@Babygirlly555 , Kyle displays a high level of ignorance on this video. He just repeats the same talking points over and over again.

Things cost money. You just have to be smart with it.
1
@Paul B , get a job. The KFC close to where I live by is looking for managers. You have to start somewhere.
1
@Paul B , ok, they are hiring janitors at the local school.
1
@Paul B , you don't do repair as a janitor. A janitor at my university has health issue and he is just fine. You are making excuses at that point.
1
@Paul B, the harsh reality is this. If you don't have any friends/family to help you out, and you can't produce, than what are you worth in society? That is the reality.
1
@Paul B , the truth hurts, doesn't it? I thought you leftists supported science? I thought your leftists supported evolution? All of a sudden you don't?
