  1. Count Deku, after WWII federal government spending was 14% of GDP, now it is 20%, and that was with defense spending dropping from around 10% of GDP to 4%. Also, your inflation number on the min. wage is off. According to Pew Research the min. wage topped out in 1968 at $8.68. The CPI number you use is for urban inflation which is for urban consumers, not the entire economy.

  2. Ant Man, you are correct. It isn't because those countries are "social democracies". There is a lot of culture to it as well.

  3. The federal government has been expanding during that time as well. There are other factors as well, but you have to realize that trend as well.
