  5. There are people who can't work because of disabilities, and I am all for helping them out. Kick the leeches off the system we we have more to help out individuals with disabilities and more to help out those who actually work and are making an attempt to get better.

  6. Ian Flory-Barnes, Michael Rae, what do you do to help out society? Do you take in homeless people? Are you going to become doctors and volunteer your time? Do you donate millions to needing families? It is easy to criticize, but I bet you do not do anything humane either. You rather force others to do it.

On economic issues when you go to the core of them on the right they base their arguments on facts and logic, the left base it on emotions. that is why Ian acts the way he did. That is not to say either side is better, we need facts and logic but we are human. But in the end when you debate universal healthcare those on the right will eventually get to emotions.

  8. In the free market you have to serve people to earn more. If you are greedy you will work more which means you produce more for society. "Why does one person need more money than they can spend in a thousand lifetimes? " You have never been rich so you do not know how they act. They live different lifestyles where they invest that money to grow it. That produces more for society.

  10. Grahamhg, the universal declaration of human rights contradicts itself. It says we have a right to healthcare, but also says we have a right to holidays off. So if I need to get treatment on Christmas, someone's rights is going to be violated. Either I do not get treatment as the doctors are taking time off, or I do and the doctor does not get their rights of time off.

  11. The Constitution is there to limit government. Rights are things that government cannot take away without due process. It does not guarantee anything. The universal declaration of human rights is simply an Xmas list created by idiots.

You can get roommates, live with parents, have a spouse, etc. Next, cost of living has gone down in many ways due to increase technology and productivity. For example, cars are much cheaper today than they were in the 70s. The only things that have seen an increase in price are healthcare, college, and homes. Ironically they are influenced by the government with medicare/medicaid and the payroll tax, the college loan program, and the FHA. The reality is that woman appeared to have no home, so I made a comment that hospitals are not homeless shelters. He did not like how the hospital just kicked someone out when in reality you have to do that when they are done. But besides that, let me extend. Sure people will work. But under Kyle's plan he feels that every job should pay a "living wage". That that government should pay for healthcare, vacation, maternity leave, retirement, etc. So if that were the case, what is going to stop people from just working at McDonalds and Walmart where they will have a "living wage" and healthcare and vacation? Why become a doctor or a professor? Where is the incentive to work hard?

Now add in the fact that Kyle wants to give them more money with a "living wage" and pay for their healthcare, vacation, etc. Why work? To be a doctor you are working well over 40 hours a week and it is stressful getting there. In the current state of the economy people will push for better jobs as they pay more. But if the low skilled jobs pay well enough, why more up? Why do so many people decide not to become doctors but instead work a job that pays say $50,000 a year with benefits? Because that is all they want. Now make instead if that job was at Walmart as opposed to say being a teacher, more people will just work at Walmart.

  32. Dallas Smith, nothing indicates that universal healthcare will save money without lowering the quality. Economically it makes zero sense. You will be increasing the demand without increasing the supply meaning costs will go up or quality will go down. Say you were a doctor and you saw 5 patients a day and everyone else you did not see because they could not afford it. Those 5 patients took up 12 hours of your day and you were working nearly 60 hours a week. Now say the government funds healthcare to where everyone can "afford" healthcare increasing your demand to 8 patients a day. You already work 12 hours a day, what are you going to do? Either demand more money or lower your quality. That is simple economics. This is done in other countries with long wait times and low productivity. "You are providing the talking points for the corporations" You are providing leftists talking points and ignoring very basic economics.
