We live in an entitled and spoil society. You say you just found a job recently. Here you are with internet and a computer despite not having much of an income. That actually proves a point. People in this country have it great but are spoiled. If you were having a hard time financially than cut back. It is like the person on food stamps with a smart phone. A sad fact is that we do have a group of people who simply don't want to work, they simply want a paycheck and a handout. Look at the recent fast food strikes. Look at everyone wanting to raise the min. wage. People don't want to work.

ENDURE ONE_OGT The fact is that you have access to a computer and internet, you are not bad off. You also used the term "living wage" which means nothing. You are paid a market rate, it is up to you to make a living. I do see I as a problem with congress getting a raise. But to say that McDonalds can afford those raises is simply not true. You do know that the average McDonalds make $5,000 to $8,000 per day. That is not profit but money they make. They pay around a $1000 a day in wages, plus add in bills and maintenance a McDonalds makes keep around 3-5 cents for every dollar they make. Small restaurants work on small profit margins, McDonalds simply can't afford higher wages. There is no such thing as "living wage". It is a made up term that was created by individuals to stir emotions. Those McDonalds workers don't work hard. They have a low skilled job and are paid a low wage because of it. They generate very little capital. Instead of subsidizing the bottom we should push people to develop skills and pursue higher skilled/higher wage jobs.

***** There is a role at the local level. We have public education for every from K-12. That is a chance for people to do well. We have options for cheaper smaller more local colleges. The problem with asking government for help is that it leads to society being dependent on government. Government can create laws making it harder for them to move up and then create laws making them dependent on government. They are oppressed now. There is a role for government but at the same time we need to keep government in check.

***** So the federal government is going to have funds now? The problem is that we need balance. No government is just as bad as too much government. The reason why the wealthy have an advantage is that the federal government has power to be bought. The federal government is hard to be held accountable due to lack of representation. At the state and local level you can hold the government more accountable. You can also simply just move to another state if a state becomes corrupt. In short we can't just give up our freedoms to the federal government or ruin our checks and balance system of powers.

There is some truth to what Boehner said. There are people who don't want to work they just want a paycheck. We do live in an entitled and spoil society anymore and if someone doesn't get their way they cry until they get it. Simply go to Walmart. People don't care there. The shoppers just leave their carts all over the parking lot, the workers never keep the shelves looking nice. We been having fast food strikes but I guess doing a job that doesn't even require a high school diploma is worth $15/hr. People are lazy.
