How about we go back to the way federal taxes use to be, a tax on the states based on population, get rid of the federal income tax. It worked well before and will remove this problem.

+Knives Millions Democrats economic plan in a nutshell, do nothing to improve the economy, raise the debt and make everyone dependent on the government.....except for the rich, we have their back.
1
+Desphinx After doubling the debt......so what's your point. That is like having a 500 pound guy lose 250 pounds, they are still overweight.

+JamieOwen50 Reagan did a great job cleaning up Carter's mess.

+William Slaughter Clinton worked well with a republican congress. Reagan worked well with a democrat congress. Looks like a moderate approach is the way to go.

+killerbee256 When Reagan took over the economy was suffering. He caught us back up and we had strong growth.

+Sterl500 I never just ignore someone, if I did it was because either something else came up (I am PhD student mind you) or an email showing a response got lost. Usually I get the last word. If you don't want to think and consider different things and remain myopic then sure, don't waste your time.

+killerbee256 What right wing talking points do I say?

+killerbee256 Here you are ripping on Reagan, at typical left wing thing to do. What you fail to realize is that he worked well with a democrat congress to lead us out of a recession and into strong economic growth. Clinton did as well with a republican congress. That is why I praise both Reagan and Clinton as good leaders. You complain about Reagan but he was president almost 30 years ago, he is dead. He has been out of office for a long time. We are on our 4th president since him. It is time to move on.

+Sterl500 What do you mean? The only time I avoid debating someone is when 1. something comes up in school such as tests or with my research project. For example I am going to be starting a project soon that can net us a huge grant if it goes well. Or 2. the person I am debating writes very long comments, as in pages worth of comments where at that point it is clear they are just going to ramble. Beyond that I have no problem debating people, if you look at the ones I do I am usually the one with the last word.

+divinuminfernum The deficit was cut in half, not the debt. When Bush took over it went from 5 trillion dollars to around 9 trillion dollars. Under Obama it went from around $9 trillion to $18 trillion. He double the debt (so did Bush, he wasn't a success either). We had a large deficit to begin with, cutting it in half means nothing, we are still growing our debt. How can you say more creative people are left leaning? A large portion of business owners are right leaning and very creative. Picking comedians is a poor example as well. Comedians have talking points to a target audience. They say a joke such as "Sarah Palin is dumb" or as Christopher Hitchens put it to Bill Maher his audience is frivolous and will laugh at anything he says. He said that when he criticized Bill on making another Bush IQ joke. David Angelo said that he avoids economic and political joke because he will have to do 5 minute of exposition in order to have the joke make sense. Where a liberal comedian can just say "George Bush is dumb" and have an audience eating out of his hand with no thought. I see those on the left break down things as well. Attacking the rich with a progressive tax code is destructive. Making more people dependent on the government is destructive. It all goes both ways but your idea of how liberals and conservatives act is not correct. Problems exist on both sides.

+killerbee256 I don't get paid anything, and what talking points do I have?

+killerbee256 When did I ever say any of those in this thread?

+divinuminfernum Federal government spending does not help the economy. This country has faced several recessions in the past, the two that took the longest to recover from were the great depression and now. They were also the only two times the federal government pushed to spend to "fix" the economy. All other recessions took around 5 years or less with little government intervention. Those "progressive" policies and spending do not work and are anti-democratic as well. Raising federal taxes as a whole does not create jobs or stimulate the economy. We tried that. The reason why we have a growing income inequality gap is because of the progressive tax. A progressive tax is the government saying that a certain percent of people make too much and a certain percent make too little with zero justification and arbitrary numbers. What happens is that the upper percent not only does work for themselves but others as well. The top 10% pay 70% of taxes while earning only 40% of the income. They are doing their work plus an extra 30%. That is why the are earning so much, they are doing so much work. "if a business wants to use the infrastructure and workforce of any country then they should be paying the appropriate taxes there" Which is what? What value is that? One problem I have with liberals is all rhetoric and no specifics. This is a great example right here. What does comedy have to do with anything?

The economy was fine under Bush, even after 9/11. When the democrats took over is when things got bad.
