On the 2nd question, the person asking it is clearly not that intelligent. They said "common sense gun control". What defines "common sense"? What might be "common sense" to some is actually very debatable to others. As far as Kyle saying liberals are "smarter", there is no evidence for that. That was a minor study that the STEM departments in universities are less liberal than the arts and humanities though. But in the end it isn't as black and white as Kyle is making it out to be.

The US is at the very least is on par with other nations. We have arguably the best healthcare system in the world. Our university system is the best. We lead the world in research and innovation in science and technology. If you compare statistics with other countries the numbers are close where any difference is noise at that point.

I will flip your question around. How do you know more about US politics than someone who lives in the US? Comparing the US to Scandinavian countries is not valid. The US has 320+ million people. We have a much larger diversity and a completely different society. You can't make a side by side comparison. That is like comparing the New England Patriots to Bishop Gorman High School Football. You are taking a complex situation and limiting it down to 1. they are countries, 2. people live there. Like with the Jets and Bishop Gorman, they are 1. football teams, 2. they win. There is a lot more to it to that. Even if you did make a side by side comparison, the numbers are so close to each other that any difference is noise.

What is the criteria for "happiness"? That is a completely arbitrary standard that can be based off of anything. Least censored how? The richest country in the world is the US. Most educated how? The US is in the top 5 in productivity. Do you want people who can pass tests or can actually produce? The US is number one in research and innovation in science and technology. The US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world. The US has the most international students in college. If you want to make frivolous side by side comparisons then we can and the US is tops in a lot of categories. But as I said, the numbers are so close that any difference is noise. I guess that great Scandinavian education didn't teach you statistical analysis.

And you cousin didn't live in Norway, Finland, Sweden, etc. So it is still a moot point. The US has freedom of speech as well, I don't see the censor part. Qatar is not a Scandinavian country. The US has a higher GDP than China. Norway is higher than the US in productivity due to their oil. Even at that the US is still top 5. The US has arguably the best healthcare system in the world. There isn't anything that says that France (also not a Scandinavian country) has the best healthcare system in the world. The US have a very strong university system and is the best in the word. Also, Oxford in in the UK. The US is near the top in major categories and in the top in some. As I said the differences are basically noise. I don't you know about statistics. You just said that Oxford University was in the US. And your original argument was that Scandinavian countries are better but then you went on to mention countries like Qatar, Australia and France. So I doubt you can't read and understand statistics. And how is the US getting worse? Please explain that.

Those countries are not similar. For example, Denmark has mandatory military. If you want to do GDP per capita and PPP then the US still beats China and is in the top 10. As I said before, at that point the difference is noise. By country the US has around $7 billion more than China. The WHO ranking of healthcare is frivolous. It compares the US to countries like Malta and San Marino. Also, to quote Texas A&M professor Robert Oshfeldt on the rankings "These factors (which could also include rates obesity and smoking, also arguably the result of lifestyle choices rather than health care) call into question the value of country rankings, especially where the difference between the leading countries is often less than a year. Prof. Ohsfeldt compared the situation to college rankings where two schools with minute differences are ranked, somewhat arbitrarily." He is the professor that did showed if you remove murder and car accidents then the US is number one in life expectancy. In the end the WHO is a frivolous ranking. We have football stadiums that can literally hold the entire population of San Marino with empty seats. How do you confuse where Oxford is at? The differences are not massive. The crime rate is not "sky high" as you claim. Take murder for example. The rate for the world if 6 people per 100,000. The US sits at less than 4 people per 100,000. They are below average. If you remove pockets of high crime in the US such as Chicago, East St. Louis, Flint, South Central LA, areas of NY and so on then the crime rate drop a lot. They are not similar though. The WHO ranking is almost useless. When professor Oshfeldt removed murder and car accidents, variables that are arguably not a factor in healthcare, than the US becomes number 1. He did it for all countries. I still don't see how you didn't know where Oxford was. As I said, remove outliers from the US and the murder rate drops a lot in the US. For example, Minnesota has a murder rate of 1.6 people per 100,000. New Hampshire is at 0.9 people per 100,000 which is less than Denmark. Again, this shows you lack of ability to read and understand statistics.

You can remove outliers and variables that don't play a role in what you are trying to see. You are trying to paint the entire country as being poor with questionable statistics. Let me give a comparison. Say you have one class with 10 students who all take a test. Five score 70% and five score 80%, the class average is 75%. Now say you have another class of 10 students, same grade, and 10 take the same test. Say seven score 90% and three score 30%. The class average is 72%. Which class is better?

That's the point. If you remove one of those scores then that class average goes up. But people are trying to place the US in a broad light and criticize it based off of a few bad apples. Someone wrote a comment the other day saying "wouldn't it be great if getting hit by lightning was greater than getting shot in the US". I replied that it depends on where you live. Where I live that is the case. In East St. Louis not so much. The same falls for KC, MO. There are areas in KC that are very safe. Just stay away from the area between Troost and Prospect.

You are trying to make the US look like a terrible place. There are pockets in the US that are bad, I agree. But as a whole it isn't a place of high crime. I agree there are plenty of factors that extend life expectancy. That is what professor Oshfeldt said. That is why healthcare rankings are arbitrary. There is nothing that says France definitively has the best healthcare system in the world. You can argue it does, but you can't say for 100% certainty it does.

I agree corruption is an issue, but that is because the US has gotten more left leaning it it's politics at the federal level. You also can't say that France has a better healthcare system than the US. Also,Obamacare has the situation worse.

Those countries have less corruption because they have much smaller populations. The more local government it the easier it is to control. We have states that are much larger than those countries. Police forces are ran by the local government where, for the most part, corruption is not a problem. This shows you lack of understanding of politics in the US. This is no different than in public schools where we lack teachers. If one takes off and we can't find a sub then those students are picked up by other teachers causing them to work more. Sure they are paid, but they are doing more work. And local schools are ran locally. Expand to the federal level and it becomes a greater mess. Thus you support slavery.

Why do all that work and deal with that stress when the government is going to provide you with everything? If the federal government had limited power then it will have nothing to sell thus it can't be bought out. Expanding the federal government will just make the problem worse which is what the political left wants. Climate change has been happening for over 4 billion years.
