Shark Wave, there is way more to the economy than just the min. wage. Hong Kong has no min. wage and they are doing well with low unemployment.

Praxis, so you will agree we should not compare the US to Denmark and Norway?
3
You can't tie the min. wage to overall productivity.

Fluffy Waffles, Sargon more moderate than people who watch Kyle. Kyle and his fans are radical leftists to anyone who is more towards the center, even if they lean left, are a radical to them. It is all about perspective. So they just make fun of him since they cannot formulate an argument against him.

Great, leave this issue to the states.

They vote "yes" because the money is not coming out of their pockets. This is an example of going with what is popular is not always best.

DesertHigh is correct. You cannot make a broad conclusion like that. You are ignoring business regulations, taxes, the work ethics of society, etc. If you want to make that broad generalization than the US has a higher GDP per capita that Australia. You know who has a higher one? Hong Kong.

DeepBlue, Praxis feels the US is a third world country. He has said this numerous times in response to me. Good luck him.

"Australia's more comparable to America than Hong Kong. Do you not understand basic arithmetic?" Population Hong Kong: 7 million Australia: 24 million US: 320 million Ok, now France France: 67, million Minimum wage: $11/hr Unemployment: 9.7% US unemployment: 4.1% Praxis, by what you are saying France is a better comparison to the US than Australia. France has a higher unemployment rate and higher min. wage. "How many times did your dumb ass flunk out of high school?" Considering how you do not know that France has a higher population than Australia and a higher min. wage and higher unemployment than the US it is safe to say I flunked out far less than you.

"you think cutting taxes somehow leads to economic growth and more tax revenue" In theory it can as there are references in textbooks and from economists that feel that way.

Praxis, you feel that the US is a third world country.

"with that sort of simplistic and caveman level thinking," Irony

"Raising the minimum wage is great for the economy. " Wow, what a convincing point with a lot of supporting evidence. Well, I change my mind. I push for a $50/hour min. wage.

People were given the option to vote on universal healthcare in Colorado and 80% said no. So based on Kyle's standard people do not want universal healthcare. Even at that these min. wage increases are a very minute part of the overall economy, almost unmeasurable in how it will influence the economy.
1
"hat's just one state dude. Find at least 25 more states that oppose universal healthcare and maybe your argument can be worth debating. " Every state it has been tried in failed. Also, Colorado is a left leaning state that voted for Bernie. 80% is a large difference. " Last I heard, if the min wage were to raise to $15 today, the price of a big mac would go up by 18 to 27 cents" I haven't at at McDonalds in years, so I really do not care. Besides that you are comparing an economy of over $16 trillion with a complex tax code, numerous regulations, numerous businesses, millions of workers and so on to the min. wage and the price of the Big Mac. Think about that. Think about how ridiculous your comparison was. Why not compare it to the price of a Whopper? Or the price of a Porsche? Or the price of a plane ticket? Or the price of a one bedroom apartment in Dallas?

Nothing will ever make you happy.

Willing, is isn't that simple as you have to also include the cost of material goods, rent, taxes, bills, etc. That company mist likely is not earning $30 but it instead earning about 7 cents for every dollar spent.

The vote yes because it is not coming out of their pockets.

" if a business can’t survive an increase to minimum wage then the business doesn’t need to be around" If a person cannot justify being paid more or cannot survive on the min. wage than they should not be around. The demand obviously isn't there for their low skills.

"says who?" Says simple analysis and comparison. Productivity is up as a whole because of technology. Here is a chart of unit labor cost https://www.bls.gov/news.release/prin1.t02.htm Unit labor cost is hourly compensation over productivity. Notice the "Food Services and Drinking Places" how that rate is at 3.1. That means the price of labor is outpacing productivity in that area of the market. But besides that, look at change in productivity, it is not equal in every sector.
