@trosway , I agree. I question if the caller was really on the right. If you listen to him he cannot give exact reasons why he switched or what was wrong with people like Shapiro. And if Kyle caused him to switch he is not that intelligent to begin with. Kyle has nothing but talking points and no details to his arguments. Kyle's points are easy to debunk. I have a hard time seeing Kyle convincing anyone to join the left.

beanie0112 , reality is that Shapiro is big enough that people really dig to find holes in him. There are some, but not many. Now compare that to Kyle. Kyle has so many holes in his argument that no one takes him serious. Notice how people talk about Shapiro a lot more than they do about Kyle? That is because you really have to dig to find criticism on Shapiro.

beanie0112 , the Some More News video is very poor. One, it provides no sources. It simply tells people to "Google it". For example, at the 8 minute mark it finally gets to Ben talking about the Vanderbilt protest in how they were just protesting that they were victims. The guy in that video claims there were reasons. Protesting to change the name of a dorm is not valid, that is a non issue. The naming of a dorm does not support if Vanderbilt is racist. And the professor making a comment about Islam is not valid either. She made a legit criticism of it. Basically it seemed like those students feelings were hurt and can't take criticism. Ben is human and is not free of error. The reality is that he has published a lot and said a lot. As a result there is an increase chance of mistake or error. And like most people, he has a bias. And he is there to sell a product. The reality is that, due to how much he published and/or sells he will be attacked more. Reality is that people should never look at just one source. They should look for many sources. And they should look towards experts.

Prophet , I didn't miss it. Also, the immigration and crime issue is deceptive. It is hard to obtain actual stats on that because if an illegal commits a crime against another illegal it won't get reported out of fear of deportation. You also have to consider what type of crime. If I were to get a speeding ticket and you were to commit murder, we both committed a crime. Which is more severe? And finally, they are here illegally. Our society has rules where we don't accept them under the status they are in. We don't want to take that risk. That is different than if an American commits a crime. We, as a society, is willing to take a risk on that person, we aren't with illegals. I didn't miss it, the caller appears not to be too bright.

@comingviking , I give many counter arguments on his videos. One inconsistency was recent when he was talking about the Canadian artist being fired. He says he supports free speech but says regulations should exist where a corporation should not be able to own a news outlet, such as an oil company owning a news paper. That is limiting free speech right there. Saying who can and cannot own a media outlet and saying who they can and cannot fire is limiting on free speech and press. Plus, there are questions if that drawing is what got him fired and the company said his contract ran up and they were looking to replace him anyway and were looking for months. Also, Kyle constantly say there is no debate on many issues and that his position is correct. He completely dismisses the other side. Listen to him on topics like healthcare and climate change and economics. He simply dismisses the other side when there are legit arguments there. For example, on climate change he blamed it for the fires in CA and saying that climate change is leading to more severe weather like droughts. In reality there hasn't been a significant change in droughts as shown here https://www.nature.com/articles/nature11575 He says there are no arguments on the issue when Prof. Mike Hulme published the book "Why We Disagree About Climate Change" outlining arguments on all sides, all that are legit. Take healthcare, he constantly pushes the 45,000 death stat and then goes on a appeal to emotion rant without breaking down the number more. He than says that number is zero in other nations when it isn't. Every nation suffers through what is called amenable mortality. What is funny is the Commonwealth Fund ranking he points to uses amenable mortality stats to develop their ranking. They even admit people die from curable health problems due to lack of healthcare. I can go on but Kyle is extremely wrong on many issues. I would love to debate him sometime in front of his audience but I doubt that will ever be arranged.

@markhackett2302 , those laws don't limit free speech, it protects property. When I write a paper and reference something I have to reference it, but I still have free speech. Kiddie porn is an action, that is not speech.

@markhackett2302 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IARK379_-c&t=994s Go to around the 14 minute mark when they are talking about healthcare. Kyle cites the 45,000 deaths in the US and says in other nations that number is zero in other countries which isn't true. To add Kyle talks about "elective procedures" as if it is only cosmetic surgery when in Australia neurosurgery is considered "elective".

Prophet , his reasoning was weak and I question if he flipped to begin with. If that one issue is what caused you to flip that is something to be concerned about.
1
Prophet , I did answer it. I said it was a weak reason. And if one issue caused one to change they are shallow to begin with.
1
Prophet , he didn't give an exact reason. Stating just immigration, and doing so poorly, is not a reason to me. What about economics? What about social issues? There is a to it. And when did you debunk my sources?
1
Prophet , sure, please do.
1
Cuthulhu In the deep , Shapiro has mistakes as well, but Kyle is constantly wrong.
1
beanie0112 , I was paying attention to the video. I ramble way too much. Get to the point. On climate change I suggest you read the book entitled "Why We Disagree About Climate Change". With Shapiro there is no inconsistencies in his thinking. Making abortion illegal is about protecting life. The government getting involved in climate change is influencing the economy.
1
Prophet , the reasoning was very poor and shallow. So if you want to call that a reason then sure.
1
Prophet , wrong about what? It comes down to standards. My standard is much higher in why someone will change. Pointing to one issue, immigration, and fumbling to describe why is a weak reason to me and thus is really no reason. I used to be far right but I become more moderate. How? Years of reading and interacting with people. it wasn't one issue or moment. It was interacting with people, listening to arguments on both sides and eventually thinking for myself. It was a long change for me.
1
Prophet , I did watch the video. He fumbled through the issue. Also, the issue of illegals committing crime is more complex than what this guy realizes. I did answer your question. Overall this guy is shallow and I really question if he leaned right to begin with.
1
Prophet , I am busy bud. I had work to do and I had a meeting last night. I stand by my comment. Fumbling on the issue of immigration as a reason to change is weak to me. And as I said, illegals committing more or less crime than American citizens is a complex issue. It goes way beyond that. It seemed like a simple talking point is what changed him as opposed to an in depth analysis of the issue. Someone that shallow I won't take seriously. If those are the type of people are you converting to the left than your crowd is weak.

proud American , I literally give books and studies for Kyle fans to read. They just dismiss them. It is amazing how many followers he has.
1
proud American , to be 100% fair Kyle brings up legit points, but he does so in a very deceptive and shallow way. The far left brings up points that should be discussed, but the problem is they don't want to have a discussion. For example, healthcare. Is it an issue people go bankrupt and people die? Yes. But when Kyle goes far left and says other nations don't experience those problems, or that M4A is the obvious solution and that our current system sucks, that is a problem. When I present evidence that our current system is strong his fans ignore it. There is a need for reform, but we have to look at both sides of the issue. Kyle only looks at one and ignores the other. That is a problem.
1
I love how Kyle talks about Shapiro but Shapiro does not talk about Kyle. Really shows who is more relevant.
1
One, how true is this? This is similar to people leaving the left. Next, a handful of people is not much. If Kyle gets you to change beliefs you are pretty shallow as is.
