  6. Mercurial, other nations do vastly different things. For example, many have no min. wage and allow unions to negotiate their wages which is a free market approach. And they also have lower corporate tax rates. But even at that increasing government spending from 20% of GDP to over 30% is a large leap. That will lead to a major economic recession as businesses, investors, and individuals will refuse to spend until the economy stabilizes. The retail sector of our economy is around 5% of it and when the housing bubble popped look at that recession, Bernie wants to influence around 20% of our GDP. Imagine the recession that will create. It doesn't matter if what he wants is better for the economy (it isn't, which is a whole different topic in itself). They fact is that it will lead to a major recession causing the vast majority of the country to suffer for an extended period of time. Bernie is a nut and needs to be avoided. Luckily Trump is succeeding and people are no longer buying his BS.

  7. As for other countries, they have many shortcomings as well. And again, they are vastly different and economies are complex. However, they have their established systems. Those countries changing their healthcare system to something like ours will cause their economies to collapse. Same if we try to change our system to something like their's. That is why those countries are not pushing for major changes.

  8. When you discuss the issues Bernie wants to discuss what happens is that either one, they are not as extreme as Bernie makes them out to be, or two, they are so complex you can't make a solid conclusion that Bernie makes.

  20. francis dyon, there is little to suggest that medicare for all will be better than what we have already as a nation. I am all for improving our healthcare system, but to push for medicare for all is a mistake as doing so would lead to a major recession and would not do anything to even improve our current healthcare system. I care about people, and I want was is best for society. I feel Bernie is not for that and I have evidence on my side. As for a "living wage", that is 100% subjective.

  21. Ryan D, I know what communism and democratic socialism are. Bernie claims Nordic countries do it. Nordic countries have no min. wage because they have a free market in allowing workers to negotiate wages with employers. They have lower corporate tax rates and with that people have the freedom to work and thus with that, and their small population, they can establish the society they have where everyone is taxed high, not just the rich. Bernie wants to tax everyone high but masks it as if he only wants to tax the rich. So right away he is lying. When pushed on the issue he claims he will do it so he can give everyone "free healthcare" and "free college". However, he wants higher taxes on corporations which is a job killer. He wants a higher min. wage as well and he wants to offer all these things to people. How does he offer it? He never explains how. So when people refuse to work to become doctors, professors, and other skilled workers to fill those jobs needed to offer "free college" and "free healthcare", what will he do? He will push to force people to do it. He is a communist because of that and because he has no details on how he will implement his plans. He lies about his plans, he makes up numbers about them, and when concerned citizens ask him about the issues on the details he has no desire to listen to the other side. He is a communist.

Did not have a job until he was 40, and that was as a politician 3. Stole electricity from his neighbor 4. Rallies with known socialist and communists and there is a lot of video evidence on that People in that area would hate that. Coming from that part of the country I know. The reality is that Bernie was never attacked by anyone. Many people who opposed his ideas said they did but still felt he was a nice guy. The second you threw dirt on him he would have been destroyed.

  35. Ben H, Bush Jr was the governor of TX. He was well known and was successful there. Also, Bush served in the military and ran businesses before becoming a politician, so he had a job. Bernie's biggest weakness was that no one knew him. Many viewed him as a nice guy despite the fact they did not like his policies. But any dirt on him would have scared them away. When pushed in a corner by a guy from Denmark Bernie admitted he will have to raise taxes on everyone. Mathematically that is the only way based on how much his plan would cost. " Corporations used to pay 32.1 percent of federal revenue. As of 2013, it was less than 10 percent." That is flawed as there are more people now in the economy but not that many more corporations. You have to put these numbers in proper perspective. You can't just throw them out there and expect for them to mean anything.

  36. Ben H, the cost of single payer healthcare varied and none of them factored in increased demand. Freidman is a fraud at that point as he is completely ignoring demand. Freidman is a Bernie supporter and his idea of single payer healthcare raises taxes on everyone that earns an income that happens to be slightly above what he earned himself. . Nothing suggests that single payer would be cheaper unless you lower the quality.

  38. Another thing on Freidman, his expertise is not in healthcare and its relations to to economy. It is in labor. Look at his research and look at what he got his doctorate in. Just because he is an economist does not make him correct. Two professors, John Schneider and Robert Ohsfeldt, would disagree with him completely. Their research is in healthcare and the economy. Freidman comes from a very left leaning university. I have look at their department and his work in particular. I don't take what they say seriously.

You are looking at only one component of many involved in healthcare. Yes, Canada has cheaper healthcare, but their quality is much lower in several ways. Also, they are far behind us in R&D. You can't just look at cost and say "look, they have it cheaper" as if that is an argument. My rent is cheaper than I am sure what Tom Cruse spent on is home. Does that mean my living space is better than his? This is one of my major issues with Bernie and his fan base. They take complex issues and grossly over simplify them. This is a great example. You simply say "Canada's healthcare is cheaper" as if that is a supporting argument for single payer while ignoring the plethora of other variables involved.
