Daniel Stillwell Bernie is a career politician that ran off of appeal to emotion rhetoric that boiled down to three things 1. centralized government 2. redistribution of the wealth 3. class warfare He was very vague in his policies and yet owns three homes. Trump is blunt in a lot of ways, Clinton is a career politician as well and is less transparency than Trump.

Daniel Stillwell As I said with taxes, the more important issue is how complicated out tax code is to begin with. Before 1913 federal individual taxes were unconstitutional. I would like to go back to those days. Also, him releasing his tax return will do nothing but create another avenue for democrats to smear him. It is a no win situation at that point making it a frivolous issue. Clinton doesn't seem too healthy herself. At least Trump is not collapsing in 80 degree weather. I don't agree 100% with Trump. I actually don't support him. But I don't support him for legit reasons and it deals with policies. I don't get sucked into these childish smear tactics of tax returns because, as I said, if he releases them then democrats will just smear him based on what they see. What I am getting at is if you want to criticize Trump than criticize his policies. Stop playing politics that mask more important issues.

I don't care about taxes. I care about policies. Clinton has failed at her job and tried to hide it from the public when she was supposed to be a servant to the public. He was such a blank slate that people made him out what they wanted him to be which is one of the reasons why he was such a terrible president. People know Trump's past. Obama was a one term Senator that came out of nowhere. I don't care what Trump is worth. He has a strong track record. As I said, releasing his tax return with do nothing but creating another pathway to smear Trump. Attack his policies, not him. When Romney released his tax returns all people did was smear him. And when Romney said the truth that 47% don't pay taxes, they smeared him again. If you can't attack the policies and have to attack the person than maybe you shouldn't be voting.

Daniel Stillwell How much do you want to know about a president? Obama's history was very vague but people were quick to elect him. Meanwhile Trump has been in the public's eye for decades and he is scrutinized to the fullest. His life is well known. I agree that we should know a lot about a president, but tax returns are not that big of a deal. That is similar to knowing how many sex partners he has had. Unless he was audited and was arrested for tax invasion at one point than it isn't a big deal.

You are complaining about a tax return which means nothing in if he is qualified to be a president or not. I agree that we should know a lot about our candidates, their tax returns are so far on the bottom of the list it isn't my concern. You say Bernie released his. Great. That was because he is close to the 1% and I wanted to see if he actually paid taxes due to his insane, radical tax policies. Either than that it doesn't matter to me. What does a tax return show? Nothing. If he lied on his taxes the IRS will know considering how much he is worth and the businesses he is accountable for. His tax returns have nothing to do with 1. policies 2. how he will act with congress 3. how he will act with other countries You are just trying to dig up dirt on him. I personally don't care about tax returns unless the politicians is asking for higher taxes. If Trump releases it people will just use it against him. He is damn if he do damn if he don't at this point. There are more important things to talk about. Bernie is a hypocrite and the best example of a career politician. He can screw over wealthy people but he can be wealthy himself.

I am sorry, but a guy who ran a campaign off of appeal to emotions like "living wage" and "fair share" that mean nothing is not transparent. That is a politician. But the issue here is that tax returns, unless the candidate is pulling for higher taxes, are pointless. No different than knowing a politician's religion.

Unless a politician is asking for higher taxes but pays low taxes themselves, I don't see an issue. Just like how Nancy Pelosi supports the min. wage but has unpaid interns. I want to see hypocrisy. In this case with Trump you won't get that with his tax return. In terms of tax cuts, the economy is more complicated than just cutting and raising taxes. Cutting taxes can increase revenue if the market grows. Consider this, 10% of a million is more than 50% of 100. Also, defense spending makes up less than 4% of our GDP and less than 20% of the federal budget. Defense spending is actually constitutional as well.

Next, a religious test is not unconstitutional. Establishment of religion is. Thus if a candidate is denied the presidency based on their religion then yes, that would be unconstitutional. But a religious test isn't. Also, I am not asking about a religious test, I am simply talking about knowing their religion. There is no law that says a candidate has to release their tax return. Just like there is no law that says they have to release their religion. But people want to know their religion based off of the very same idea that you have on tax returns, they want to know more about the candidate. So why do you not want to know their religion? You arbitrarily want to know about their taxes, which there is no law making it a requirement for them to release it. But you don't care about their religion? You are cherry picking here.

I studied the constitution as well and am required to take a constitution test for my job. I know it quite well. Now where in the constitution is a candidate required to show a tax return? Daniel Stillwell Every other candidate has said what their religious practice is as well. Every other candidate paraded their family around to the public as well. Tax returns are pointless unless they are pushing for higher taxes. Just like sexual orientation is pointless unless they are gay and oppose gay activities. I want to know policies and how they plan on implementing them. Criminal records will be important as well. Beyond that it is pointless.
