Even at that, just because he is popular does not mean people feel he has the ability to be president or supports his policies. Politicians he supported lost. Policies he supported lost. For being popular he loses a lot. Bernie does well in Vermont because it is the 2nd smallest state in population. Has a high percentage of whites, and has low crime. They essentially have no problems as it is a tiny white state that no one cares about. When asked in one of my graduate class what was the largest city in Vermont no one could answer it. This was asked to a group of graduate students. "Americans overall like what Bernie is selling " Then why did they vote in the opposite direction? "If Democrats had the ethics of Bernie with the political calculations of a republican then they would win every time.. like an FDR. " FDR turned a recession into a depression.
