Wow, Kyle shows his completely lack of understanding of economics. The government does not control the money supply, the Federal Reserve does. MMT is a joke as it has zero peer reviewed publications to support it. Kyle really needs to stop talking about economics.

Kyle has a far left viewpoint on economics. To him all we have to do is either tax the rich or make up money and we will be fine. It isn't that easy. Also, MMT is a joke. No peer reviewed studies to support it. That is why no one besides far left economic illiterates support it. Kyle needs to step outside of his bubble but won't. Doesn't matter, he gets around 30,000 views a video where others who actually promote themselves get way more. Kyle is a very small voice.

He is self made. He developed that store, took the financial risk, and as a result became rich. You have clue what self made is. Sure, someone did the work building the buildings, but it was his investment that created that job.

@korpse6rinder , there has to be a reason to have the building being built. If you build a building and no one uses it than what is the point? The owner needed it thus they invested in it and made a company. The business owner gave purpose for that building to exist or for those people to have jobs.

@korpse6rinder , yes, nothing is done alone in this day an age. But he was the one who worked hard to move up. Let us take this to the extreme. If we weren't developed with schools, roads, buildings, etc., than the hardest workers will be the ones who actually did work on their own to succeed. Today, however, we have roads and schools. So you have to use that as the new baseline. This guy had access to a K-12 education like you and me. He took the next step to succeed. Just like I took the next step to succeed and I am a PhD candidate where many of my high school classmates didn't. That is the point.

@tetrapack24 , doesn't matter. He took the financial risk to create that company and that job and despite competition he succeeded. It was him having that desire to succeed. Yes, there were workers involved, but it was him taking the risk. Take the extreme route, and I will use myself as an example. I am earning my PhD. I put in the work. There are two points there. 1. Even with the janitor keeping the building clean, or someone building it, or facilities running the campus, in the end I am the one doing the work to earn my PhD. Other people can to it but I am instead. 2. Even with out all those workers I will find a way. If we were in a situation where there were no buildings, roads, workers, etc., than I will find a way to get things done. That is back to the old times where people took their land, built their own cabin, farmed their own crops, etc. Either way, he is a self made man. If one of those 3 million workers don't want to work he will find a new one. In comparison to me again, my K-12 classmates received the same education I did. They could have went to the same college. They could have studied as hard as I did. They didn't. Someone else could have took the financial risk to create a Starbucks but didn't.

@StormCrownSr , Nordic nations taxes everyone high. The highest income bracket in Denmark is $55,000. In the US is it around $400,000. If you want to be like those nations you need to install essentially a flat tax.

@johnl4309 , MMT is a joke. There is a reason why there have been no peer reviewed papers on it. Also, the idea that the federal government can print money is not true. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply. And the idea that we can grow the economy by printing money is not a novel solution, it is what the Roman Empire did and it is one reason why that empire fell.

@koukkoufos2000 , Scandinavia has lower corporate taxes and more of a flat income tax compared to the US. For example, in Denmark the highest income tax bracket starts at $55,000. In the US it is around $400,000. So do you want to pay higher taxes?

@kyle9401 , again, zero peer reviewed papers on the topic. That is because it is not recognized as a legit economic theory. If it was than it would be published in at least one journal. That is the standard. It isn't a couple of people who disagree but the entire economic community minus a few. When you publish in a peer reviewed journal you have to submit the paper to an editor. They can accept or reject. If it gets past that they send it to reviewers who accept or reject. No paper based on MMT has ever made it through the scrutiny. So tell me, if MMT is so legit why are there no peer reviewed papers on the topic?

It also has lower corporate taxes. So if you want to be like those nations you have to copy their tax code which you don't seem to want to.

You need to learn what wealth is. Most wealth owned by the top is not liquidated. It is in their stocks. In fact, most wealth in the market is not liquidated. Around 60% of the average home owner's wealth is tied into their home. Beyond owning a home the average person has little to now wealth. A home owner has 30 times more wealth than a renter. Most people have no desire to actually own and manage a major corporation like Starbucks or Walmart. That is why wealth inequality exists. In reality it is arguably a good things. Yes, someone like Bezos owns a lot of wealth due to the shares of stock they own, but they made shopping much easier for millions.

@manuelmarquez2514 , a business's goal is to grow and expand. A part of that is looking long term. Government, due to politicians looking for re-election, looks short term. As long as things are OK during election time they are fine. That is why SC justices and why governors of the Fed are not elected, they have to make tough decisions that will harm in the short term but benefit in the long term. That, as opposed to the government just expanding the debt ceiling.

@davidwalker6038 , profit motive is needed to grow. If you don't make a profit you don't grow. That exists in a business and in the individual. Will you work for free? No. You work to gain money so you can grow in some way. So the profit motive is not bad. Breaking even is vague and can lead to waste. Government breaking even means cutting expenses at some places just because they did not spend enough that year, so those areas just waste money. And how can government 'fight" climate change?
