mrbadguysan, there will be a black market for guns. Guns are different from cars. People will buy them illegally on the idea of simply killing others. People buy cars on the idea of transportation. Law abiding citizens will follow the law, criminals won't. There are restrictions on cars but cars get robbed and sent to chop shops often.

It depends. For fully automatics you need a special license where you basically sign your life away where the government can track your gun. It is expensive and the fully automatics are expensive as civilian sold guns are rare and the supply is dropping as new ones are not being made. As for "assault rifles", that is a vague term. My .30-06 is very deadly in the right hands. It is a bolt action 1917 Enfield. In the right situation I can kill up 50 if I so desire. Hand guns are where most gun deaths come from and if done right can kill a lot, look at the VA Tech shooting. That is also another example of how magazine limits don't work. As for this "People would rather have barely regulated guns so they have "freedom" instead of properly trained and licensed owners" So you want gun owners to be trained so they are more efficient killers? It comes down to we have other methods to solve this problem that does not include violating rights. If you want to violate rights than get rid of the 4th amendment. If cops could have be allowed to randomly search people's homes they can catch criminal intent, such as this man buying a lot of guns and ammo. Is that what you want?

Not comparable as they are both different situations.

mrbadguysan, how are you going to prevent this shooting?
3
This man bought the guns legally. Nothing you can do about this.

mrbadguysan, NV just passed an expanded background checks on guns last election season. Clark County was a major reason why. https://ballotpedia.org/Nevada_Background_Checks_for_Gun_Purchases,_Question_1_%282016%29

TheUltimateBeing01, guns are an archaic piece of technology. They are easy to make along with bombs. They exist in large quantities for a reason. Even if they were illegal they will still exist for people to get and build. There comes a point that laws restricting gun purchases won't do anything and we have to find other methods to lower crime and shootings.

Tragedies like this has happened before. Look up the Bath Township school bombing for example.
1
Handguns are semi-automatic as well.
1
For the record, NV just voted to pass expanded background checks.
1
ch33tos, the point was that more gun laws were passed in NV and this still happened.

Arcticwulf, this happened in 2016 in NV https://ballotpedia.org/Nevada_Background_Checks_for_Gun_Purchases,_Question_1_%282016%29

Jonathan, Australia is a poor example. Before the gun ban shootings were already dropping in Australia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Australia Start with 1996 after the Port Arthur shooting. You have had 4 shootings with more than three deaths since than. Now take the 11 years prior. You had 8. However, from 1987 to 1992 you had 5, where in the last six years you had only 3. The trend was that shootings were dropping prior to the gun ban. Even at that those shootings had a low kill amount. In fact, since the gun ban you had more deaths in two arson attacks (15, 11) and a stabbing attack (8) than you had in any of those mass shootings except 1 (one had 8 being dead). "Here you can buy a weapon as easy as you buy a ice cream cone, " When was the last time you bought a gun at at dealer? Also, NV just voted to expand their background checks making gun purchases harder. "Obviously something would have to be done federally around the country to see drastic changes, not just a few states since some allow for easy access and nothing stops you from driving back and fourth a few hours." This guy bought his guns in NV that just expanded their background checks https://ballotpedia.org/Nevada_Background_Checks_for_Gun_Purchases,_Question_1_(2016) Just like with healthcare you know very little about the gun issue.

The issue is not guns, it is the mental state of people. We should work on curing the people and not taking away guns. Even if you make guns illegal it is easy to kill this many people with other methods such as home made bombs for example. They were grouped together and thus were an easy target.
