Talon9390, sorry facts hurt your feelings.

Kiel Weiss, even Bernie Sanders admits that those programs are running out of money. Also, just because they are paid by a separate tax does not change the fact that it makes up a larger portion of the budget. Saying it is a separate tax is a cop out. That is similar to saying you work two jobs and pay one set of bills with one job and another set with another job. In the end what matters is how much you are paying combine and how much you take in combine. SS, Medicare and Medicaid cost more than defense.

Military spending does not "drive the deficit massively". We spend more on SS, medicare and medicaid. Each program, individually, cost more than military. Also, they are programs that have been growing for years in relation to GDP. Military spending has been decreasing for years in relation to GDP. Kyle is an economic illiterate.

Deficits, at times, are inevitable. You can't just create a situation where deficits are gun without ruining the economy in certain situations. We can, but we can raise taxes and cut a lot of government spending to do so which creates a recession due to the shock to the economy. Our government spending is out of control to where we have to reel it back, but it takes time.

SS and medicare and medicaid are the largest contributor to the budget. Also, they are programs that have been growing for years when you compare them to percent of GDP. Meanwhile, defense spending was dropping.

"If these guys are serious then they do indeed need to do the world a favor and drop dead with their immoral, " You want me dead, and you say I am immoral?

"Greedy fucks like them wouldn't donate even if a starving child with leukemia was holding their hand out to their face" I am too poor right now to donate. However, I do a lot of work for our society that benefits it. I use my skills to pursue a PhD in a STEM field and I work in my local community helping it out. Now who is the selfish one? Me who actually works for my community or you who wants to hold a gun to people's heads and force them to give up their time and money to others?

Leinja, most on the right support government and regulations. They just want to keep those government and regulations limited and localized. The political left bitches about a corrupt federal government and crony capitalism and then pushes to give that same government more power. There is a desire to have government and regulations, but they have to be limited and placed under control of the people. You do that with state rights and staying within the confines of the Constitution at the federal level.

Sha Dow, I never had a corporation rip me off. In fact, when they tried I wrote the CEO a letter and got free services. For example, with H&R Block and my internet provider they pisses me off. I wrote the CEO a letter and got my taxes for free the next year (which cost a lot for them as I have two 1099s) and I got a discount on my internet for two years. After that I still switched to a different tax service that was much cheaper because of the free market. I had government rip me off many times though.

DynamicWorlds, taxation and currency are not linked. Money has no value until society gives it value. After that the government taxes it. This is not to say that taxes should not exist, they should. However, money is given value in the market.

Attila the Fun, I agree we can discuss defense spending and I am opposed to the cuts to a degree. The only reason why I am not fully for the cuts is because I know when democrats get in power they will cut it. So this increase does offsets history of cuts. But, as a whole, to blame the defense budget on the deficit is simply false.

You are not wrong. A problem with our society is that it is lazy and entitled. Many talented people refuse to actually work and just want a handout. If more people worked to even a fraction of their potential we can accomplish a lot. All these leftists complaining about being poor are simply lazy.

Beaver Ones, most people earning the min. wage are not poor.
