J.J. NOX But yet Romney won the votes of those with a college education. K-12 funding has been increasing but our K-12 system is terrible. So you want to spend more for more years?

We have universal college, poor people get a lot of grants and most to all have loans. There is a reason why tuition is up. It is simple economics. When you bring in a third party to pay for something the seller can raise prices because the buyer isn't paying. We are increasing K-12 spending and our K-12 education is poor, we have the best university system in the world. So now we need to destroy that? K-12 wasn't enough? Spending money to graduate more art and history majors isn't a good idea. Stanford is able to afford this because several wealthy people attend there offsetting the cost of giving free tuition to others. My university I attend could never afford something like that. You are a radical for wanting the federal government to fund for college education. K-12 is paid form, community colleges are cheap. There is a reason why we have the best university system in the world.

***** With Tennessee that is a state law, that is the difference. Just because it works in one state doesn't mean it will work in another.

Robert Jordan Stanford has several wealthy students who offset the cost. Also, Stanford is so competitive that you get buried quickly in with the other students who are just as smart or smarter. You are a small fish in a large pond with people who have stronger connections. One advantage of college is that you can develop connections, such as professors and colleagues. But in larger schools it is harder. I went to a small school and knew all my professors personally. In the large one I am at now you have 250 student size classes and TAs teaching students, not an advantage. I had a friend graduate from Stanford and earns less them me (I am currently a graduate student). That is the overall catch. Plus, you still have to meet requirements to even get in.
