Kyle's plan is regressing to the norm. Why should I have the same healthcare coverage as someone who doesn't work? The worst healthcare experience I have ever had was at Planned Parenthood which, ironically, receives federal dollars. With my insurance the place I go I get care quickly and easily. But, I feel our system does have problems and to me it is related to the payroll tax. With that I always ask two questions 1. Why do so many employers pay with healthcare insurance as opposed to a higher wage? 2. Why do healthcare insurance equal healthcare in this country? We don't have a capitalist system in healthcare. We have a for profit system with barriers created by the federal government.

Problem with boycotting insurance companies is that because of the payroll tax healthcare insurance is how a lot of people get paid by their employers. So they have no choice. I agree the people should force insurance companies compete and call them out for bad services, but many, including me don't have a choice.

Jean, that is exactly what will happen.

Three things. 1. We have it with Medicare and Medicaid, so it is a moot point 2. Gallup also said that 87% of people support background checks for guns, but such laws failed in Maine and passed in NV by only 0.45%. 3. Coloradocare failed with almost 80% voting against it In all that poll is meaningless

Problem with that is that people are paid by their employer with healthcare insurance. Thus people just lump all healthcare coverage under their insurance. I support what you said, but because of the payroll tax businesses pay with healthcare insurance as opposed to a higher wage since benefits are not taxed. Thus people just use insurance as care instead of what it should be used for, insurance. Much like car insurance pays for accidents but not oil changes. When it comes to healthcare in our country I always ask two things to highlight the problems 1. Why do so many employers pay with healthcare insurance as opposed to a higher wage? 2. Why does healthcare insurance equal healthcare?

Democrats want single payer but know the people are not dumb enough yet to accept it. Republicans want the federal government out of healthcare and want the states to manage it, if any form of government were to be involved. Problem is that the federal government is so deep in healthcare that they just can't strip it all away. So the citizens are stuck with the mess we have now.

It is not really bad, but not really great. https://www.aei.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/-the-business-of-health_110115929760.pdf
