  4. Yes, the too many exits comment I felt was asinine. But the overall point is not without logic. A new building in my hometown had two exists in a classroom but only one entrance so the professor, or whoever was running the classroom, can monitor who entered the classroom. The new school has doors with the handles removed on the outside.

  6. Many doors are built for exit only. Go to new buildings and you will see doors that are missing handles.

  8. This is not dumb idea. New schools are being designed to limit deaths for tragic events whether it be a shooting, a fire, tornado, earthquake, etc. For example, when a new school was built in my home town it was shortly after Columbine. The new school had wings as opposed to main hallways. So if there were a shooter it would be limited in wings as opposed to going down a hall.

  12. Space, the problem with more gun laws is that it eventually leads to gun confiscation. A couple months ago it was banning the AR 15. Now you have a kid using a shotgun and a revolver. When do you ban those? Also, the idea of doors is not a novel idea. Many doors are one way with crash bars on the inside and no handle on the outside.

  13. Space Wizard 1. Slippery slope do happen. We passed a ban on 100 round drums. Now in NY a large capacity magazine is 10 rounds. Where is teh stopping point? You say "temporary", but as Milton Friedman, nothing is more permanent then a temporary government policy. Along with that you say "wait a few months" when that is not enough time. In 2018 we have seen an unusual amount of school shootings. What is going on now is not the norm and is not the trend of previous years. No new laws was passed or removed. It is just an odd year. Felons and the mentally ill who are shown to be a threat to others cannot own guns. 2. I agree 3. Uncommon or not people are using this shooting to push for more gun laws. That is the problem.
