Great, republicans won. Time to undo what Obama did. I love this. Maybe the democrats should try to serve the people instead of themselves.

Miles, congress is there for checks and balances. Maybe the democrats need to find a way to claim more seats.

We do vote for policies directly in a lot of cases. Issue is that what Kyle is saying is pretty much BS. Background checks passed in my state by only 0.45%.

Miles Dixon Obama is there to lead and work with congress. Clinton did fine, what's Obama's excuse?

Kyle is delusional. He says that 90% of people support background checks. Meanwhile only 50.45% of people in Nevada voted in favor of and it was not passed in Maine.

Firstname Lastname It does prove a point. Same with healthcare. Kyle keeps saying the people want some sort of universal healthcare. But it could not pass in Vermont nor in Colorado. But I guess those states don't matter either, just California. But, also in Missouri they passed a law that allowed citizens to carry a gun, concealed, without a permit. But I guess that state does not count either.
1
Firstname Lastname The law is simple, it was a background check. I live in Nevada and read the law, it was a background check that only passed because of Clark County, and still only barely. " Was it something passed by ballot initiative or some other kind of popular vote, or was it just "the politicians did it on the low"? " It passed by a vote. Even if the politicians did it the people voted for them.

Firstname Lastname The point does not stand. So you are saying that in CA they overwhelmingly support background checks? So much so that it makes up for three states that clearly don't (well, NV does, but barely).
1
Yeah, I find that percent to be deceptive. We passed background checks in my state with a 50.45% vote.

Martin Anderson The country was designed under state rights. If the government were to use the military against the people it will be the federal government which at that point you create a civil war, thus the states are fighting the states. If the citizens were to fight any government it would be the state and local government. Even at that, some defense is better than none.

BillieJo Benway Read my comment to Martin Anderson. If the federal government to drop a bomb on a city they are making a direct attack on that state which will cause a civil war.

My thoughts exactly.
1
Or look at votes, background checks passed in Nevada by only 0.45%.
1
Can you explain to me why it has to be replaced?
1
Kyle, stop it with the polls. The people voted in republicans so it is clear that the people don't want it. Also, we passed background checks in my state by a small margin, so over 90% do not support background checks.
