True. Bernie never answered any of the questions. Look at the debt one. He just pointed to Trump as if Trump was responsible for the current debt where, in fact, it took decades to accumulate. Bernie did not address the question that was asked of him. He just went on his talking points and did so in an aggressive way. Independents won't support a man like this.
2
@Korean_Autist_AbsoluteMF , why doesn't Bernie lead by example and donate more of his money?
2
@jaymzafish , TYT is losing views I noticed. If Bernie runs against Trump than Trump will destroy him and these channels will take a huge hit in views.
2
@jaymzafish , true. TYT has been around longer, may people just don't unsub. I think the far left is dying which is needed in this country to succeed. We need a political left, we don't need a far left that is as loud as it is. People like Kyle, TYT, Sam Seder and David Pakman are not great for progress as they are regressive. Bernie losing big time and Trump winning in 2020 will essentially kill these channels. Can't wait.
2
These are not bad questions, and Bernie did not answer them. He looked really bad here.
2
Exactly. He avoided the question. It is amazing how much Bernie fans will defend him.
2
Most of his responses were weak. Him donating money is him leading by example. He is saying that other people have to be liberal with their money but he doesn't have to.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , who said to the IRS? He can donate to charities.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , it does lead by example. It shows that he is willing to give up more money to help others and that he can live with less income himself. Many people don't want higher taxes as they feel that is their money.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , i am not talking about the IRS. I am talking about charities.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , Bernie wants to lead this revolution, why not lead by example? Why should the host donate more? She is not pushing for higher taxes. When I hear that clapping in that response is shows Bernie and his supports want to be liberal with other people's money.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , the rich already pay more.
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , define "fair".
1
@linusmlgtips2123 , and why does he think that is "fair"?
1
@Korean_Autist_AbsoluteMF , you keep sending me that. I, however, have recommended books and experts for you to read on these issues and you continue to ignore it.
1
@Korean_Autist_AbsoluteMF , my bad. You gave me those videos in the past.
1
@Korean_Autist_AbsoluteMF what?
1
@jaymzafish , yep. The first question asked was about Bernie donating more or refusing the tax breaks. Bernie's response as for them to ask for Trump's tax return. He dodged the question. These Bernie fans are lost. I want Bernie to win the primaries and see what excuses they will make when Bernie loses big time to Trump.
1
, he has been repeating the same talking points all the time. He has no answers. He just deflects.
1
@Lewa500 , when asked why he doesn't pay more his response was to demand for Trump's tax return. When asked about his spending plan and deficits his response was to look at Trump's tax cuts. When asked what Democratic Socialism meant he said it as government working for all people which is vague. To me that can be less federal government and more state rights. Bernie wants the opposite. When asked about Vermont's universal healthcare plan failing he did not give an answer. Oh, wait, you just wanted one. My bad.
1
@Lewa500 he has been campaigning on it for years, decades really. He should have a general range. If you ask me about my research and ask me for numbers on the spot and I can give you a range. You hold government accountable by keeping it as local as possible. Consider how many members of congress you can actually vote for. Now compare that to your state politicians. The free market is great as it gives power to the people. It gives them options. I support a free market system with local societies, whether it be local governments or charities, filling in the gaps.
1
@Lewa500 , he should still answer the question. He deflected to Trump as usual. Trump avoided answering the debt question, he deflected to Trump. He didn't say more than that. After that he went on a rant about the wealthy as if people care. Doesn't matter if he is not in charge of Vermont, he is ignoring that when universal healthcare has been tried it has always failed to pass in this nation. Also, at the state level there are far fewer hurdles to overcome. The smaller the scale the cheaper it is.
1
@Lewa500 , you can't hold government accountable at the federal level as our nation is large. At the local level you can see, first hand, if government is working for you. And if not you can change local government easier or move and remain a US citizen. At the federal level you can only vote for a handful of people, that's it. The free market gives you options. If a business does not produce no one will buy from it. It does regulate itself. Also, many charities fill in the gap. For example, 70% of fire fighters are volunteer.
1
100% not true. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply.
1
@lyni50 , congress controls the purse as in they control how much the federal government spends. The Federal Reserve controls the money supply. I suggest you talk to these professional economists.
1
@lyni50 , so why can states afford education then? The federal government pays for only 8% of K-12 education in the US.
1
@lyni50 , the federal government taxes to spend as well. States cannot tax exports. I doubt you talk to professional economists. Money enters the economy through the Federal Reserve. If Congress does not have enough funds it goes into debt. The Fed has nothing to do with federal spending. I feel you need to talk to actual professional economists.
1
@lyni50 ,also, the federal government does not "fill in the gaps" in education spending. Most spending goes to Title I schools. And it is arguable that they don't make the schools much better as those schools typically struggle the most. But the point stands. How can states fund K-12 education but not healthcare? You need to study economics.
1
So it is bad to ask Bernie questions? Kyle has double standards here.
1
@floridamancode_e2673 , that is a loaded question. None of these were loaded questions. And Bernie did not answer any of them. In the debt one he blamed Trump as if Trump accumulated all of the nation's debt.
1
It is an argument. If it can't work at the local level what makes you think ti can work federally?
1
Bernie has essentially no chance. Even if he wins the primaries he will have to run against Trump where the economy is doing well under Trump doing the exact opposite of what Bernie wants to do. Bernie has no argument against Trump which is why he just calls Trump a liar and a bigot, which is what people did in 2016 and look how that turned out. Also, when Bernie is pressed on the issues he just goes to talking points in an aggressive way. That mixed with the dirt on him will lead to independents not voting for him.
1
But yet states pay for K-12 education.
1
Kyle will ask "what is your favorite color?" or "Where did you meet your wife?"
1
@petonchiospataponchio366 , he didn't answer them, and the crowd was very pro Bernie. Bernie would just say a talking point and people cheered. On the question about the debt he diverted the attention to Trump which is not answering the question.
1
@pranays , my psychiatrist said that my intellectual baseline was very high. It is why that for years I was able to succeed despite having major depression disorder to where I am now on medication for. So no, I don't have a learning disability.
1
@petonchiospataponchio366 , he didn't answer the questions. On the first question asked by the audience member he went on a rant about the rich and Amazon which is his typical talking point of "the rich need to pay more". So he was asked on why he doesn't donate more money. His response was to have them ask for Trump's tax return. That was not the question. He completely avoided answer the question, and that was 2 questions in.
1
@petonchiospataponchio366 , I can go farther. The lady asked about Bernie paying 52% and his response was that she can volunteer. She isn't suggesting that high of a tax rate. So he was deflecting but the audience cheered him on. His answer on Democratic Socialism is vague. Saying the government should work for "all" is vague. I feel limited federal government with more state rights is just that. Bernie feels a centralized government is just that. So by his definition I am a Democratic Socialist, but I doubt you or him will say that is true. He then went on wealth inequality which was a completely different point. Again, he did not answer the question. And you yourself are deflecting. My feelings on corporate taxes is meaningless. The point is that Bernie did not answer the questions.
1
Atheos B. Sapien , well considering I am a PhD candidate I will say that I don't have a learning disability.
1
@petonchiospataponchio366 , it ins't giving to the IRS but giving to charities. He did not describe policies, he had nothing but talking points. Saying government working for all is very vague and can be interpreted in many ways. I did watch the debate, I saw Bernie acting like Bernie. His message and approach will not attract independents.
1
Exactly. Kyle doesn't like it when Bernie gets challenged. Why doesn't he lead by example and donate more of his money? And welling his book is capitalism. So is running a business but Bernie wants to attack businesses. He can also give his book away for free.
1
@henrygustav7948 the fact there are no peer reviewed papers on it
1
We don't even study MMT in the US as it is essentially a joke.
1
@henrygustav7948 give me a paper
1
@henrygustav7948 , I just did. I see nothing but working papers. None of them are actually published.
1
The Federal Reserve controls the money supply.
1
@dannywindham3295 , you don't understand our monetary system.
1
@GeorgePiazza MMT is a joke. There are zero peer reviewed papers on the topic because economists don't accept.
1
@Moh4a4d , sure, but for the time being he can donate to a cause to help out education, or healthcare, or the elderly. I am sure a local university would love to have some more money to help out their students. But instead he pockets. Also, he talks about how his book sells and says that is fine that he wrote a book that sold millions. But the reality is that his book sold because of his name being on it and not so much the content. If I were to write that book would it sell? No because I am a nobody when it comes to that. Bernie was big at the time. Bernie has double standards and refuses to lead by example. That is why people hate him as much as they do.
1
@Moh4a4d , also, when asked the question he went to his usual talking points of "tax the wealthy" and "student debt" and "wall street speculation". That is all he does. He never answers questions.
1
But why doesn't he donate his money for the time being? I am sure some medical school would love to have money to expand their research so we have more healthcare to offer people. He should lead by example.
1
@sierra4107 , for the time being he can donate to charities until he gets the tax code he wants. That is the point. He should lead by example. All I see is a guy who wants to be "liberal" with other people's money but doesn't want to do anything himself. I see a guy who wants everyone else to work while he does nothing.
1
@sierra4107 , and yes, society can work well on charities and donation. Do you really think we need government to pay for all of these things?
1
MMT is a joke. It has been tried before and failed. Also, if Bernie mentioned MMT many economists will point out how there are zero peer reviewed papers related to it meaning that the economists don't accept it.
